Role Description As an Advocaat-stagiaire at Aben & Slag Advocaten, you will support and work closely with experienced attorneys in a variety of legal practice areas, including labor law, commercial law, insolvency, corporate law, and real estate and government matters. Your day-to-day work will include legal research, drafting procedural documents, contracts, and opinions, preparing case files, and assisting in court proceedings and client meetings. You will be involved in analyzing legal problems, helping to develop case strategies, and contributing to practical solutions for clients. You will also participate in internal knowledge sessions and ongoing training to develop your professional skills and expertise. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Echt. Qualifications Strong legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret legislation, case law, and legal literature. Proficient in drafting clear and accurate legal documents, such as pleadings, contracts, and memoranda. Effective communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders. Demonstrated interest or foundational knowledge in one or more of the firm’s key practice areas (labor law, commercial law, insolvency, corporate law, real estate and government). Ability to work diligently under supervision, manage multiple tasks, and maintain attention to detail in a dynamic environment. Master’s degree in Law (LL.M) and eligibility or intention to be admitted to the Dutch Bar (advocatuur). High level of integrity, professional ethics, and commitment to continuous learning and development. Fluency in Dutch, with good written and spoken English; additional language skills are an advantage.

Core Responsibilities

Support experienced attorneys across several practice areas by conducting legal research, drafting procedural documents, contracts and opinions, and preparing case files. Assist with court proceedings and client meetings, analyze legal issues, contribute to case strategies, and participate in training and knowledge sessions.

Requirements

Requires a master’s degree in law and eligibility or intent to be admitted to the Dutch Bar, along with strong research, analytical, drafting, and communication skills. Candidates should demonstrate integrity, attention to detail, an interest or foundational knowledge in relevant practice areas, fluency in Dutch, and good written and spoken English.
