Job Description

How do you make our customers happy? Without robust Customer Due Diligence, there can be no financial licences. It is as simple as that. This makes this senior position strategically important to two licensed entities: bol Payment Services and bol Credit Services, which are supervised by DNB, AFM and FSMA. The role has significant internal and external impact: you protect 43,300 selling partners subject to CDD obligations and four million customers who use Buy Now Pay Later. From onboarding to transaction monitoring to offboarding, from partners to consumers: you develop and implement a scalable, future-proof CDD function. The biggest challenge Delivering robust CDD in a domain where regulatory requirements, bol’s pace of change and the complexity of the financial ecosystem can sometimes be at odds. You will also build a single capability for two types of users: partners with KYB obligations, UBO structures and complex ownership arrangements on the one hand, and millions of bol customers on the other. At bol, CDD therefore means continually balancing 100% compliance with a 100% frictionless experience, while the goalposts shift due to changes to the Dutch Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Act (Wwft), for example, and new requirements. What You Do As Senior Product Manager - CDD You work in the Fraud & Risk domain within Core Financial Services and, together with your fellow PM, provide product leadership for the CDD domain. As the senior PM, you co-lead the product strategy, including the roadmap and vendor landscape. You set the overarching direction, bring stakeholders together and secure their commitment, accelerate decision-making and stay strategically on course, even when changing requirements call for sudden tactical adjustments. You work closely with the CDD operations team, Compliance, Legal, Product Designers, Process Analysts, Data Specialists and our external vendors. You also guide engineering squads in delivering a backlog that translates abstract regulations into tangible software. The result? A CDD capability that sets the standard within bol: compliant and risk-based, yet also seamless, scalable and intelligently automated. Your key responsibilities: Owning the complete CDD product lifecycle: onboarding, screening, risk classification, transaction monitoring, ongoing monitoring and offboarding Translating complex Wwft and AMLR obligations and the expectations of DNB, AFM and FSMA into an actionable product backlog Designing and co-implementing the right risk-based CDD product strategy for partners (KYB, UBO) and consumers (KYC) Selecting vendors and integrating tools for screening and monitoring, for example Running product discovery, validating iteratively and continuously improving together with CDD Operations, Compliance, Legal and Tech Managing dependencies, stakeholders and priorities within the financial licence programme Proactively and effectively communicating progress, risks and decisions to programme leadership and stakeholders Why you can make a difference You have a proven track record in product management in a regulated financial environment, preferably in payments or FinTech. You know CDD inside out, not just from reading about it. Partner and customer onboarding, KYB and KYC processes, transaction monitoring, lifecycle and event-driven reviews, and the underlying legal obligations are all familiar territory. You have built new products or capabilities and know how to assess vendor presentations critically. You are equally comfortable working with engineers, operations teams and compliance officers, and you communicate effectively and decisively. Where you'll be working You work in the Fraud & Risk product domain within Core Financial Services, part of bol’s FinTech organisation. Together with your fellow PM, you lead the CDD capabilities of the financial licence programme, one of the most impactful strategic programmes bol is rolling out. The environment is professional and pioneering. The impact is significant: the capability is new, the deadlines are firm, and what you build will become the standard underpinning our financial services. Is this exactly the kind of challenge that energises you? Onboard your CV today. Something for you? Greenfield gardener: You see an empty field in a regulated domain as an open invitation: designing, planting the seeds and growing capabilities is what excites you. CDD connoisseur: Onboarding, KYB, KYC, transaction monitoring, lifecycle reviews, AML? You speak fluent CDD and know the opportunities and pitfalls. Boundary-spanning connector: You understand the dependencies and interconnected nature of CDD processes. You know how to align stakeholders across domains and secure their commitment. Nothing for you? Straitjacket tailor: You believe there is only one way to operate compliantly: by tightening the regulatory belt to the very last notch. Die-hard box-ticker: Once the regulator is satisfied, your job is done. Whether the capability actually works in practice is beside the point. Reactive comfort-seeker: You respond to questions at lightning speed, but setting your own course amid tight timelines and shifting requirements is much harder for you. Bol is the largest online retailer in the Netherlands and Belgium. In 1999 we opened our virtual doors as first online bookstore in the Netherlands. Nowadays we’re working with 2.000 colleagues to deliver the best shopping platform ever. To be able to do this we have expanded our shopping platform in the 20 years of our existence. 2010 was the beginning of bol.com in Belgium. The first step towards our southern neighbors. And we opened our shopping platform to other retailers, for our customers to be able to find ‘everything’ on bol.com. Since 2016 it is possible for our partners to advertise via bol.com. And in 2017 Huub Vermeulen opened the doors of our bol fulfilment center. Shortly: together with 2.000 bol.commers we work to make the daily lives of our customer easier.
