Role Description The Junior Software Engineer will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions that support public institutions and enterprises in their digital transformation efforts. Day-to-day tasks include implementing back-end features, writing clean and testable code, participating in code reviews, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with senior engineers and cross-functional teams. The role involves working with modern programming languages, frameworks, and development tools to build reliable systems that integrate AI, data, and cloud services. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in The Randstad, Netherlands, combining on-site collaboration with flexibility for some work from home. The Junior Software Engineer will also support documentation, testing, and continuous improvement of development practices. Qualifications Solid foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles. Skills in Software Development and Programming, with experience in at least one modern language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript). Knowledge of Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and integration with enterprise systems. Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and their practical application in production code. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git), basic testing practices, and agile or iterative development methodologies. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to learn quickly in a collaborative environment. Effective communication skills in English; additional European or Asian languages are an advantage. Interest in AI, cloud platforms, and enterprise software; prior internship or project experience in these areas is a plus.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is required, along with a solid foundation in computer science and experience with at least one modern programming language. Candidates should understand back-end development, APIs, databases, object-oriented programming, version control, testing, and agile methods, and demonstrate strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and English communication skills.
