Job Description

Direct hire: join our partner’s in-house team in Eindhoven, Netherlands (hybrid, full-time, no agency or outsourcing setup) Our partner is looking for an experienced Node.js Developer to help shape its composable commerce platform, the digital backbone of its online business. The role is primarily backend (around 90%), but we’re looking for someone who is also ready to step in on the frontend when needed. You’ll join a cross-functional Scrum team of frontend and backend developers, cloud engineers, UX designers, a Business Analyst and a Product Owner. You’ll work across the whole lifecycle, from design and architecture to development, deployment and optimization, on a platform that keeps evolving. What you will do: Build backend services and APIs with Node.js and GraphQL Build and extend features in the Commercetools environment Work on event-driven solutions and Azure Functions Manage and improve cloud infrastructure with Terraform and Azure Improve the performance, security and scalability of the applications Contribute to the frontend where needed (Next.js, GraphQL and TanStack Query), with support from the team Take part in refinements, sprint planning, code reviews and architecture sessions Help build an engineering culture based on quality, collaboration and knowledge sharing What you need: 4+ years of solid commercial experience as a back-end or full-stack engineer Strong skills in Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript) and GraphQL Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment A proactive mindset and a strong sense of ownership Openness to working on the frontend when the work calls for it Fluent English, and willingness to learn Dutch Readiness to work in a hybrid setup, with office attendance 2 days per week (Eindhoven) As part of the application procedure, and in accordance with our integrity policy, we require a Certificate of Conduct (VOG). Core Responsibilities

Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and features for a composable commerce platform, including event-driven solutions and cloud infrastructure. Improve application performance, security, and scalability, contribute to frontend work when needed, and participate in Scrum ceremonies, code reviews, and architecture discussions.

Requirements

Candidates need at least four years of commercial back-end or full-stack engineering experience, strong Node.js and GraphQL skills, and experience in an Agile/Scrum environment. The role also requires ownership, willingness to contribute to frontend work, fluent English, willingness to learn Dutch, and availability to work hybrid with two office days per week in Eindhoven.
