Job Description

Samskip is a truly international company that innovates the most advanced sustainable and multimodal transport solutions across Europe. Based at our headquarters in Rotterdam, one of the world’s busiest and most important transport and shipping hubs, you will engage with the cutting edge of 21st-century logistics.

As a Freight Solutions Coordinator, you will join the Freight Solutions team within the Rail Operations department at our Zwolle location. Optimizing transport capacity will be a key part of your role. A Multitasker with a Can-Do Attitude
At our Zwolle location, you will be part of a small, entrepreneurial team. It is therefore important that you can quickly work independently and manage several tasks simultaneously, including complex ones.
You are detail-oriented, solution-focused, and flexible. You are also comfortable taking responsibility and can remain calm in a dynamic working environment.
The specific requirements for this role include:
  • An HBO (higher professional) education or work experience.
  • Relevant experience in international transport or freight forwarding is not required, but it is an advantage.
  • Good command of English.
Purchasing and Outsourcing Transport Capacity
Order volumes from our regular customers for both Door-to-Door and Quay-to-Quay transport fluctuate, making it challenging to always use our transport capacity efficiently. Sometimes our regular customers have fewer orders, while at other times demand exceeds our available capacity.

We never simply say no to our customers. As a Freight Solutions Coordinator, you will always look for a solution.
When we have insufficient capacity, you will approach customers with irregular booking patterns and prepare quotations for new customers from your own network or through online platforms such as digital freight marketplaces (Timocom, Teleroute, U-Turn, etc.). When order volumes exceed our available capacity, you will outsource transport orders under the best possible commercial conditions.
You will also develop your own customer portfolio independently of demand from our regular customers, taking responsibility for its profitability.
Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Coordinating order entry, execution, planning, and bookings within the Freight Solutions team.
  • Aligning capacity requirements with colleagues from the Rail and Truck Planning on the Sweden corridor
  • Support attracting cargo to reduce empty slots on the trains on the Sweden Corridor
  • Helping reduce empty truck kilometers by finding return loads, outsourcing transport orders, or developing new transport flows to balance volumes in specific regions.
  • Recording agreed revenues and costs for acquiring and outsourcing transport volumes.
  • Handling administrative tasks, such as creating new customer accounts and freight orders, and managing delays.
A job at Samskip is anything but ordinary. We give you plenty of opportunities to take initiative and significant responsibility within a varied role. In logistics, no two days are the same, so the work is always dynamic.
You will also work in a highly international environment. At Samskip, you will have plenty of opportunities to develop your skills, including through our extensive e-learning platform.
  • A competitive salary, including a 13th-month salary.
  • 28 days of annual leave for a full-time position.
  • A pension scheme.
  • Travel allowance.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
