Functiebeschrijving Please note: Due to mandatory security clearance requirements, only EU nationals are eligible for this position. Help shape the future of navigation—from space to Earth. As a Galileo Systems Operator and Engineer at CGI, you’ll help power Europe’s satellite navigation programme, developed by the European Union in collaboration with ESA and EUSPA. You’ll define, integrate and validate mission-critical systems at the heart of Galileo, while contributing to innovative space programmes alongside ESA, EUSPA and international partners. We’re looking for an Operations Engineer who brings hands-on technical expertise, a sharp operational mindset and strong systems engineering skills. Working closely with system developers, receiver manufacturers and test teams, you’ll help evolve the Galileo User Segment or monitor the Galileo Operational System. Bring your expertise. Take on a mission with global impact. Your role in our team: Keep Galileo mission-ready as its systems evolve. You’ll combine hands-on operations with engineering expertise to: Keep test and operational equipment running reliably through daily checks and first-line (L1) maintenance. Operate and maintain the Galileo PRS User Segment test infrastructure. Help external partners develop receivers and resolve technical issues. Support system testing from both User Segment and Operator perspectives. Test, integrate, configure and operate new equipment and capabilities as Galileo evolves. Assess proposed system changes for operational suitability and maintainability. Evaluate Requests for Deviation (RfDs) and Requests for Waiver (RfWs), identifying their impact on operations and operators. Bring operational insight to system development and engineering reviews. Keep operational and technical documentation accurate as systems change. Work closely with engineering, development and testing teams to bring new capabilities smoothly into operation. How You Strengthen Our Team This is you: You’re a hands-on problem solver who enjoys making complex systems work—and keeping them mission-ready. You bring: A degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Aerospace, Computer Science, Physics or a related technical field. Experience operating, integrating, testing or maintaining complex technical systems. Strong analytical skills and a practical approach to solving problems. Experience with test environments, system verification and technical documentation. The ability to assess how technical changes affect operations and recommend workable solutions. Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across disciplines. Fluency in English. A valid passport issued by an EU member state. Willingness to undergo a security screening process conducted by your National Security Authority (NSA). Familiarity with GNSS, Galileo, satellite navigation or secure communications would give you a head start. Where will you be working? Join us in Noordwijk at ESTEC or GRC and put your expertise to work at the heart of Europe’s space sector.
