Green SM is looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing Finance team in the Netherlands. What You Will Do Month-End and Quarter-End Closing: Manage monthly and quarterly closing activities, including bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Support the preparation of monthly management reports, budget-versus-actual analyses, and cash flow reports to provide accurate financial insights. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, including reconciliations and timely resolution of outstanding items. Revenue Accounting: Collect, review, and reconcile revenue data, ensuring accurate and timely recording in SAP. Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Process Improvement and Automation: Identify opportunities to streamline and automate invoicing, revenue accounting, and reconciliation processes, while maintaining effective internal controls. Accounting Policies and Procedures: Support the development, implementation, and documentation of local accounting policies and procedures. Ad Hoc Activities: Perform additional accounting and finance tasks as required by the Finance Manager. Fixed Asset Management: Support the management and monitoring of company assets, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of fixed asset records, including monthly reconciliations, additions, disposals, and depreciation. What You Bring Education: Bachelor's degree in accountancy, Finance, Business Economics, or related field. Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CA, or CPA are an advantage. Experience: 3–5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a technology-driven, fast-growing, or startup environment. ERP Systems: Hands-on experience with SAP or another accounting ERP system. Technical Skills: Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with expense management, billing, and business intelligence tools such as Stripe and Power BI is an advantage. Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and recommend practical solutions. Proactive Approach: A hands-on, self-driven attitude, with the initiative to identify issues, improve processes, and work effectively in a dynamic environment. Adaptability: Ability to balance speed and efficiency with accuracy, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to quality. Communication: Fluent in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage. Teamwork: A collaborative mindset and willingness to support cross-functional teams and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.

Core Responsibilities

Manage monthly and quarterly accounting close activities, including reconciliations, revenue accounting, accounts payable and receivable, and fixed asset records. Support financial reporting and analysis, maintain accounting policies and internal controls, and identify opportunities to improve and automate finance processes.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business economics, or a related field is required; ACCA, CA, or CPA qualifications are advantageous. Candidates should have 3–5 or more years of relevant accounting experience, ERP experience such as SAP, advanced Excel skills, strong analytical abilities, and fluent written and spoken English; Dutch and familiarity with tools such as Stripe and Power BI are advantageous.
