Job Description
Procurement Lead Europe Amersfoort, Netherlands (Yokogawa Europe headquarters) · Full-time · Reports to the Supply Chain Lead Europe Why the role exists Every system Yokogawa delivers in Europe is partly bought: components, engineering, services. When buying is late or loose, projects slip and the margin goes with them. This role exists so that procurement at our European headquarters is run as a discipline with the Procurement Lead setting direction and leading the team to ensure suppliers, contracts and costs are managed consistently and professionally. Yokogawa is a Japanese company, founded in Tokyo in 1915. That shows in how we buy: long-term supplier relationships, decisions made carefully and then kept, and a preference for fixing a process over fighting the same fire twice. A day in your life You start with the open orders and the supplier delivery dashboard, and agree with the buyers which lines are at risk this week. A project manager calls about third-party scope on a bid due Friday; you price it and set the sourcing route. Late morning is a negotiation on a frame agreement with one of the larger suppliers. After lunch you review a category strategy in SAP spend data and sign off a supplier qualification. You close with fifteen minutes with the Supply Chain Lead to align priorities. Some weeks you are at a supplier or at one of our European operating companies instead. The real challenges Project demand is lumpy. Bids turn into orders at short notice and long-lead items won’t wait. The supplier base grew project by project, not by design. Consolidating it means saying no to suppliers who have always heard yes. Spend analysis is only as good as master data, and the master data needs work. You work in a matrix. The operating companies run their own procurement; you influence more than you instruct. Where it leads The next steps are a regional or European procurement leadership role, or broader supply chain leadership. You are coached and trusted with responsibility from day one. The team You report to the Supply Chain Lead Europe and lead the buyers in the headquarters procurement team. Around you: planning and logistics, the European warehouses, project managers and engineers, Finance and Quality, and the procurement colleagues in the operating companies. The team works on fixed cadences, short lines and written agreements; issues are addressed early to avoid surprises. Who you are At least six years in procurement or strategic sourcing in an industrial, engineering or project-based environment. You have negotiated and managed supplier contracts and run tenders end to end. You have led a team or coordinated buyers across sites. You know SAP MM or a comparable ERP procurement module, and you read spend data without help. You understand how procurement connects to planning, logistics and warehousing. Fluent English. Dutch is an advantage. CIPS or NEVI is a plus. What you’ll do and bring Run day-to-day procurement for Yokogawa Europe: direct materials and system components, suppliers and services, and indirect spend. Own strategic sourcing for the main spend categories: category strategies, tenders and requests for quotation, price and terms, frame agreements. Manage the supplier base: qualification, performance reviews on delivery, quality and cost, escalation, consolidation. Lead project procurement for the business from bid stage onward, so long-lead and third-party scope is sourced, priced and contracted on time. Keep procurement compliant: supplier due diligence, export control checks, sustainability and supplier code of conduct requirements, clean procure-to-pay in SAP. Represent procurement toward Finance, Quality, Sales and Project Management. Improve the function: spend analysis, savings tracking against a baseline agreed with Finance, master data and process clean-up, the procurement side of digitalisation. Why now The supply chain function at headquarters is shifting its centre of gravity toward procurement, with supplier consolidation, frame agreements and digitalisation starting now rather than next year. Whoever joins now sets the structure the function will run on; whoever joins in two years inherits it. What we offer A salary range for this role was agreed when the role was approved, and we share it with you before the first interview. We provide a professional environment that respects your work-life balance through a 40-hour work week with flexible start times between 07:00 and 09:30. Your contract includes a standard probation period of one month. 25 days of annual leave plus 6 ATV days, with the option to purchase up to 13 additional days Financial security through an 8% holiday allowance (May) and a 5% end-of-year allowance (December) A defined contribution pension scheme with ASR Comprehensive insurance including collective accident and WIA excess coverage A commuting allowance (€0.23/km, max €364/month) and a home-working allowance The stability of a company that has been in business since 1915 and plans in decades, not quarters Yokogawa recruits, develops and promotes people from all backgrounds. If you need an adjustment to the application process, tell us.
