Internship Digital Mars Supply Excellence Engineer
Key Skills
Job Description
Job Description:
Are you ready to make a tangible impact on the factory of the future? At our manufacturing site, we continuously strive for operational excellence and sustainable performance through the MSE (Manufacturing Supply Excellence) framework. A core foundation for our success is the Education & Training (E&T) pillar: ensuring that technical knowledge, skills, and standard operating procedures are seamlessly preserved, transferred, and elevated across our operators and technicians.
The industrial environment is becoming increasingly digital, creating an urgent demand for modern, intuitive learning tools. As an Intern in MSE Digitalization, you will investigate how we can bring our technical E&T processes to the next digital maturity level and actively implement practical, sustainable solutions.
What Will You Do?
During this internship, you will bridge the gap between academic theory, digital tools, and hands-on factory floor reality. Your core activities and deliverables will include:
Current State Assessment: Map and analyze how technical training, onboarding, standard work procedures, and competence development are currently managed and tracked within the technical department.
Stakeholder Needs Analysis: Engage directly with maintenance technicians, reliability engineers, shift leaders, and operators to identify key pain points and practical requirements for digital learning on the shop floor.
Digital Concept Development: Explore, benchmark, and design suitable digital platforms, tools, or applications (e.g., microlearning tools, interactive video guides, Power Apps, QR-coded machine instructions, or LMS integration) aligned with MSE standards.
Pilot & Implementation: Set up and run a live pilot project on a designated production line or technical focus area. Test the solution directly with end-users, gather actionable feedback, and iterate.
Standardization & Governance: Develop a rollout and governance framework to ensure the digital training tools become a sustainable, embedded part of daily manufacturing routines.
We are looking for an ambitious, curious student with an affinity for technology, people, and continuous improvement:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree (HBO / WO) in:
Industrial Engineering & Management (Technische Bedrijfskunde)
Educational Science & Technology / Instructional Design
Business Information Technology / Information Management
Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Electrical Engineering with a keen interest in process optimization
A proactive, hands-on mindset; comfortable walking out onto the factory floor to collaborate with operators and technicians.
Familiarity or interest in continuous improvement methodologies (TPM, Lean, Six Sigma, or MSE) is a strong plus.
Ability to work independently, translate complex operational problems into structured, pragmatic solutions.
Excellent command of English and Dutch (written and verbal)
What We Offer
A challenging and high-impact assignment with substantial autonomy within an open and collaborative team environment.
Direct visibility of your work and measurable outcomes on the factory floor of a modern production facility.
Dedicated, high-quality mentorship from technical leaders and MSE network specialists.
A competitive monthly internship allowance and travel expense reimbursement.
Flexibility to tailor the project scope to fulfill graduation thesis requirements or practical internship guidelines.
Core Responsibilities
Assess current technical training and competence-development processes, identify shop-floor learning needs, and design suitable digital learning solutions. Implement and evaluate a pilot with end users, then develop a framework for sustainable rollout and governance.
Requirements
The role is intended for a student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in industrial engineering and management, educational science or instructional design, business information technology or information management, or a relevant engineering field. Candidates should be proactive and hands-on, able to work independently and develop practical solutions, with strong English and Dutch; familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or MSE is an advantage.
Benefits
- Internship Allowance
- Travel Expense Reimbursement
- Mentorship
- Flexible Project Scope
