Dit breng jij mee As a Junior Big Data Engineer at VodafoneZiggo, you build scalable data products and AI-powered solutions used across the organisation. Depending on your background and ambition, you work on GenAI applications, cloud data platforms, real-time streaming, or large-scale data processing on AWS. You do not need to be an expert in every technology listed below. We are looking for strong engineers with depth in one area and the curiosity to grow across others. You work closely with AI Engineers, Data Scientists, Product Owners, platform engineers and business stakeholders to bring data and AI solutions from idea to reliable production use. What You Do Depending on your experience and team placement, you: design, build and operate data and AI solutions on AWS; develop production-grade data pipelines and backend services; help productionise LLM-powered applications and customer/agent assist solutions; build APIs and cloud infrastructure for data and AI products; work with RAG, vector search, prompt orchestration and AI evaluation patterns; contribute to reliable batch, streaming or AI application platforms; improve observability, monitoring, security and access management; troubleshoot production issues and improve operational stability; apply engineering best practices such as testing, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, code reviews and automation; contribute to reusable standards and patterns within the Big Data Engineering chapter. What You Bring Strong software engineering mindset. Experience with Python or another modern programming language. Interest in data engineering, cloud engineering, streaming or GenAI. Ability to write clean, maintainable and testable code. Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies. Good communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams. Ownership mindset: you like to bring solutions from idea to production. Based in the Netherlands and available to work from our Utrecht Central Office two days per week. Core Responsibilities

Design, build, and operate data and AI solutions on AWS, including production-grade pipelines, backend services, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and LLM-powered applications. Improve reliability, security, monitoring, and operational stability while applying engineering best practices and contributing reusable standards.

Requirements

Candidates should have a strong software engineering mindset, experience with Python or another modern programming language, and an interest in data engineering, cloud engineering, streaming, or generative AI. They should write clean, maintainable, testable code, communicate well across teams, take ownership of solutions through production, and be able to work from the Utrecht Central Office two days per week.
