Job Description

Developer at Maxymum Tech: AI × Games × Tools Just graduated or looking for something new? Love games and curious about AI? A resident of the Netherlands with the right to work? This one’s for you. What we’re building At Maxymum Tech we build AI-powered tools for game developers. Our software works inside the engine and in the browser, and it helps teams make better games faster. We’ll tell you more in person. What we offer AI, games and tooling in one job. You might build AI pipelines one week and engine tooling the next. Full-stack work. Python backends, React frontends, game-engine integrations, and the infrastructure that ties them together. A small team where your work matters. No layers of management and no year spent fixing tickets on one small component. What you build ships, and people use it. Room to grow. You’ll own real parts of the product early, with experienced people around to review your work. Taking time to learn something properly is part of the job here, not something you do on your own time. Who we’re looking for You don’t fit neatly into one box. You might call yourself a game developer, a tools developer, a back-end or full-stack developer, or an AI developer. You’re probably somewhere in between, and that’s exactly what we want. What matters most You think critically. You ask why before how. You question requirements, assumptions and your own first answer, and you’re comfortable saying “I don’t think this is right.” You’re eager to learn the fundamentals. AI helps most when you know more than it does. You’re happy to pick up a book on software design, distributed systems or engine architecture, so you can judge an answer from your own knowledge instead of trusting the tool. You put AI first without vibe-coding. You use AI tools every day and they make you much faster. You also read what they produce, understand it and take responsibility for it. You can tell when generated code is wrong, and you care that it is. You love automating things. If you’ve done something twice by hand, you’ve already started writing the script. You’re a team player. In a small team, everyone’s work affects everyone else. You share your plans before you start, ask for help when you’re stuck, give and take honest code review, and keep others up to date. You don’t go quiet for a week and come back with a surprise. Nice to have Experience building tools or plugins for a game engine (Unity, Unreal or Godot). Experience with full-stack development. Experience with Python and/or React. Previous work experience, such as a job, internship or serious side project. You don’t need previous work experience. If you’re a recent graduate in software engineering, computer science or game development (especially with a focus on tools), we’d love to hear from you. Show us what you’ve built: a graduation project, an editor extension, a side project or a GitHub repo you’re proud of. Practical details: Location: Hybrid with an office in Utrecht: 2 days in office, 3 from home. Hours: full-time (40h). Salary: 2800 - 3800 eu / month. Work permit: You must already be allowed to work in the Netherlands

Core Responsibilities

Build AI-powered tools for game developers, including AI pipelines, browser-based software, and game-engine tooling. Contribute across Python backends, React frontends, engine integrations, and supporting infrastructure.

Requirements

The role is suited to an early-career developer who thinks critically, learns software fundamentals, uses AI tools responsibly, automates repetitive work, and collaborates openly with a small team. Experience with game-engine tools or plugins, full-stack development, Python, or React is helpful but not required; recent graduates and candidates with relevant projects are encouraged to apply.
