Job Description

What will you be doing? As a Senior Technical Recruiter, you will join Nearfield’s HR/Recruitment team and take ownership of the end-to-end recruitment process for highly specialized technical roles across the organization. Recruitment at Nearfield goes beyond filling vacancies. You will act as a trusted recruitment business partner to hiring managers, helping translate business needs into effective hiring strategies and driving recruitment from demand through successful hire. You will recruit experienced professionals across a broad range of engineering and physics disciplines supporting the R&D, development, industrialization, and production of our semiconductor metrology systems. This requires curiosity about technology, a strong understanding of the external talent market, and the confidence to challenge and advise stakeholders when needed. You will have the autonomy to manage your vacancies from end to end, while also helping Nearfield further develop its recruitment capability as the organization grows. Your Responsibilities Own the end-to-end recruitment process, from intake and recruitment strategy through sourcing, interviewing, offer management, and successful hire. Act as a strategic sparring partner for hiring managers, challenging requirements where necessary and advising on talent availability, recruitment strategy, selection, and hiring decisions. Drive the business toward hiring outcomes by creating momentum, setting clear expectations, identifying bottlenecks, and ensuring stakeholders take timely decisions. Translate workforce demand into actionable recruitment priorities and proactively anticipate future hiring needs. Build a strong understanding of Nearfield’s technology, organization, and business objectives to effectively recruit highly specialized engineering and physics talent. Develop and continuously improve sourcing strategies for scarce and difficult-to-find technical profiles, using direct sourcing, talent mapping, referrals, networks, and relevant external channels. Build and actively manage candidate pipelines and long-term talent networks, rather than recruiting vacancy by vacancy. Develop, implement, and continuously improve recruitment processes, tools, and ways of working that support Nearfield’s growth. Use recruitment data and market insights to monitor progress, advise the business, and continuously improve recruitment performance. Manage recruitment agencies and other preferred suppliers, including determining when external support adds value and monitoring supplier performance. Establish relevant recruitment partnerships and networks in new countries as Nearfield expands its activities internationally. Represent Nearfield Instruments at relevant career events and actively contribute to strengthening our position in the technical talent market. Take ownership of recruitment challenges beyond your individual vacancies and contribute to the continued professionalization of the Recruitment function. What do we require from you? Joining a scale-up means being part of an exciting growth journey. It offers the opportunity to make a visible impact and help shape how the organization attracts and hires talent. At the same time, priorities change, processes continue to mature, and not everything will already have a defined solution. We are therefore looking for someone who takes ownership rather than waits for direction, enjoys creating structure, and is comfortable driving both hiring managers and recruitment processes forward. You’ll recognize yourself in the following profile: 5+ years of recruitment experience, with substantial experience recruiting complex or highly specialized technical profiles. Proven experience owning end-to-end recruitment, from understanding the underlying business requirement through sourcing, selection, offer, and hire. Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. You can build trusted relationships with hiring managers while also challenging them, setting expectations, and holding the process accountable. A business-driven mindset. You understand that recruitment exists to enable the organization to achieve its objectives and can prioritize accordingly. Strong sourcing capabilities and confidence proactively approaching scarce technical talent rather than relying primarily on inbound applications. Experience recruiting within the semiconductor industry, high-tech equipment, advanced engineering, or a similarly complex technical environment is a strong advantage. Genuine curiosity about technology and the ability to quickly develop enough technical understanding to have credible conversations with candidates and hiring managers. A proactive, hands-on mentality combined with the seniority to independently identify problems and drive solutions. Comfortable operating in a scale-up environment where priorities evolve, processes are not always fully defined, and you are expected to create structure rather than simply follow it. Able to balance operational delivery with continuous improvement. You enjoy making hires yourself while also improving how recruitment works. Strong communication skills and excellent written and spoken English. Willingness to work 1 day per week from our Rotterdam office.

Core Responsibilities

Own end-to-end recruitment for specialized engineering and physics roles, advising hiring managers on hiring strategies and driving timely decisions from intake through successful hire. Build talent pipelines and sourcing networks, improve recruitment processes, use data and market insights to guide performance, and contribute to the growth of Nearfield’s recruitment function.

Requirements

Requires at least five years of recruitment experience, including substantial experience hiring complex or highly specialized technical talent, with strong sourcing, stakeholder influence, and end-to-end recruitment capabilities. Candidates should be proactive, business-minded, comfortable creating structure in a scale-up, curious about technology, fluent in written and spoken English, and willing to work one day per week from the Rotterdam office; semiconductor or similar high-tech experience is an advantage.
