About The Role As a Data Engineer at Zonneplan, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the central data platform that impacts the entire organization. You will be responsible for building and improving reliable data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and enabling self-service solutions for various teams. Your work will directly enhance how quickly data requests are fulfilled and how autonomously teams can operate with data. You will collaborate closely with engineering, Trading & Optimization, GenAI, and other development teams to translate recurring data needs into sustainable solutions. Additionally, you will lay the technical foundation for a new machine learning platform, supporting future ML applications from model training to deployment. Embracing Agentic Engineering, you will integrate AI tools into daily workflows to automate repetitive tasks and continuously improve processes. Qualifications Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience as a Data Engineer with broad expertise in the field. Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and building and maintaining reliable data pipelines. Strong sense of ownership regarding data quality, reliability, and security. Ability to communicate technical topics clearly to non-technical colleagues and collaborate across teams to translate user needs into solutions. Proactive identification and resolution of improvement opportunities without prompting. Daily use of AI tools to enhance efficiency and quality of work. Experience with technologies such as Dagster, Snowflake, Postgres, Kafka, dbt, dlthub, Airbyte, Kubernetes, or AWS is advantageous but not mandatory. Experience with data mesh or self-service analytics is a strong plus, demonstrating an understanding of enabling teams to work independently with data while maintaining quality and security. Proficiency in the Dutch language is required. Responsibilities Design, build, and enhance the central data platform and pipelines that provide reliable data across the organization. Monitor data workflows, proactively identify issues, and resolve them before impacting dashboards, analyses, or ML applications. Implement access controls and data quality checks to ensure secure and responsible data usage by teams. Translate organizational data requests into sustainable, self-service solutions to reduce turnaround times. Develop the technical foundation for the ML platform, collaborating with developers to meet requirements from model training through to serving. Utilize AI-driven tools such as Claude Code for development, testing, documentation, and monitoring. Automate recurring tasks and share learnings actively within the team to foster continuous improvement. Engage regularly with multiple teams including engineering, Trading & Optimization, and GenAI to align data solutions with business needs. Requirements

Requires at least 1–2 years of data engineering experience, proficiency in SQL, data modeling, and reliable pipeline development, and a strong focus on data quality, reliability, and security. Candidates must communicate effectively across teams, proactively identify improvements, use AI tools in their daily work, and be proficient in Dutch; experience with the listed data technologies or data mesh is advantageous.
