For one of our clients, a leading international company in the high-tech defence and radar industry, we are looking for experienced Java Software Engineers to join a challenging software engineering project in the Enschede Region. You will work within a multidisciplinary engineering environment developing advanced radar technology and complex real-time software systems. The project focuses on improving the efficiency of the radar software development and testing process. A key part of this initiative is the further development of an automated testing framework for Radar Processing Applications. The framework uses Cucumber scripting to define and execute automated tests. The objective is to create a generic and easy-to-use test suite that can support multiple radar processing applications. Your responsibilities As a Java Software Engineer, you will contribute to the improvement and extension of the existing automated test framework. Your responsibilities will include: Developing and extending the automated test framework using Java Creating new functionalities to support additional automated tests Working with Cucumber for automated testing Contributing to the design and improvement of reusable test solutions Applying Object-Oriented Design principles and Design Patterns Working within a Red Hat Linux environment Supporting software quality and development efficiency Creating clear technical documentation Collaborating with software engineers, system engineers and other technical specialists Contributing to problem solving within a complex high-tech software environment About you We are looking for someone with a strong software engineering background who enjoys working on technically complex systems. You ideally have: A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Software Development or a related technical field Professional experience with the Java software stack Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented programming and Design Patterns Experience with, or good knowledge of, test automation Experience or familiarity with Cucumber Familiarity with Red Hat Linux systems Knowledge of modern software development tools and techniques Strong documentation skills Good analytical and problem-solving capabilities Experience working with cross-functional or multidisciplinary engineering teams Previous experience in a high-tech environment is a strong advantage A collaborative and team-oriented mindset Good communication skills

Core Responsibilities

Develop and extend a Java-based automated testing framework for radar processing applications, including adding test functionality and creating reusable solutions with Cucumber. Improve software quality and development efficiency, document technical work, and collaborate with engineers and specialists in a complex high-tech environment.

Requirements

The role seeks a candidate with a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant technical field and professional experience with Java, object-oriented programming, and design patterns. Experience or familiarity with test automation, Cucumber, and Red Hat Linux is desired, along with strong documentation, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
