We are looking for a hands-on Head of AP & AR who can combine strong leadership with operational execution, playing a pivotal role in modernizing our finance function through smart process optimization, automation, and AI. The role Leading a team of 5–6 specialists, you will take ownership of the end-to-end AP/AR cycle while actively participating in daily execution, resolving exceptions, and supporting peak periods. You will serve as the driving force behind turning routine financial operations into an efficient, AI-enabled, best-in-class function. Here is what your role will look like: Coach, develop, and manage a team of 5–6 AP/AR specialists, setting clear priorities, balancing workloads, and fostering professional growth. Oversee daily AP/AR activities (invoice processing, payment runs, collections, hedging, and reconciliations), monitor aging reports, and manage month-end closings. Identify inefficiencies across the order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles, standardize workflows, and track key metrics (DSO, DPO, processing times). Explore and scale modern tools, such as OCR invoice scanning, intelligent matching, automated vendor queries, and predictive collections—working alongside IT and finance systems teams. What you bring Relevant degree (HBO level) in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in AP/AR, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Proven track record in process optimization and a strong understanding of AP/AR controls and accounting principles. Hands-on experience with ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics FNO is a major plus). Genuine interest in—or practical experience with—applying AI, OCR, RPA, or automation tools within a finance environment. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a hands-on, action-oriented mindset. Core Responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of 5–6 AP/AR specialists while overseeing daily accounts payable and receivable operations, exception handling, reconciliations, aging reports, and month-end closing. Improve and standardize order-to-cash and procure-to-pay processes, track performance metrics, and implement automation and AI-enabled finance tools in collaboration with IT and finance systems teams.

Requirements

Requires a relevant HBO-level degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, at least five years of AP/AR experience, and at least two years in a leadership or supervisory role. Candidates should have experience optimizing processes, knowledge of AP/AR controls and accounting principles, ERP experience, and an interest in or practical experience with AI, OCR, RPA, or automation.
