We are looking for an experienced logistics operator in chemical distribution who wants to grow into a management role. You own shipments end to end, from supplier to customer, worldwide, and you work with the entire team on the total supply chain. This position is the stepping stone to becoming our Logistics Manager. Location: Schiedam (Rotterdam area) Work mode: on site, 1 day of home office per week (negotiable) Reports to: Logistics Manager Contract: full-time, 40 hours per week Travel : occasional, a few times per year About Equilex Equilex is a family-owned trading and distribution company in petrochemicals, chemical intermediates and solvents. What you'll do Plan and book shipments of all types: barge, parcel tanker, tank container(s) and packed shipments by sea, road and rail, worldwide Charter vessel space and negotiate freight with vessel owners, tank-operators, forwarders, carriers, terminals and surveyors Issue transport instructions and check shipping documents: Bills of Lading, Letters of Credit, Customs and excise and dangerous goods (IMDG/ADR) Keep orders, stock movements and invoicing correct in our ERP, including month-end close Handle demurrage, claims and customer complaints, register KPIs Lead company effort to automate routine tasks (order entry, documents, quotations, follow-up) so to increase team focus on customer service and problem solving Gradually take on coordination of a team of three: planning, coaching and back-up in a context of growing activity Meet logistics partners and attend industry events What you bring You are meticulous, organised and calm under pressure, and you take pride in doing things right the first time. Must have 6+ years in international chemicals logistics, bulk or packed Hands-on experience with chartering bulk liquids, tank-containers and DV containers Solid knowledge of Incoterms, ADR/IMDG, and customs and excise formalities Fluent English and Dutch A clear wish to move into people management, and a genuine interest in automation and digital tools Nice to have Spanish, German or French Network of relations with logistics service providers in ARA Experience with ISO 9001, GMP+ or ISCC Experience with ERP implementation What we offer Competitive salary, end-of-year bonus and holiday allowance; salaries indexed annually to inflation (CBS) Full-time permanent contract 25 days of leave, pension scheme 1 day of home office per week (negotiable) A clear path into management: we are recruiting our future Logistics Manager A small international team, a good atmosphere and a healthy work-life balance

Core Responsibilities

Plan and manage worldwide chemical shipments across sea, road, rail, and inland waterways, including chartering, freight negotiations, transport instructions, shipping documentation, ERP records, invoicing, claims, and KPIs. Lead automation of routine logistics tasks and gradually coordinate, coach, and provide backup for a team of three.

Requirements

Requires at least six years of international chemical logistics experience, including hands-on chartering of bulk liquids and experience with tank and dry van containers. Candidates must know Incoterms, ADR/IMDG, and customs and excise procedures, be fluent in English and Dutch, and be interested in progressing into people management and using automation tools.
