Nearshore candidates may be considered with on-site attendance consolidated to at least twice per month Duration - 6 Month rolling About the Client Digital Skills are working with a large Software and Travel Business that is establishing an enterprise-wide Data Observability capability. The organisation is developing a centralised approach to Data Observability, including tooling, standards, metrics and practical guidance that can be adopted across multiple business units. About the Role We are looking for a Data Observability Specialist with genuine hands-on experience of Data Observability and established tooling in this space. Working alongside a Technical Product Manager and engineering team, you will help establish the capability, support tooling adoption and define how effective Data Observability should operate across the organisation. This is not purely a theoretical Data Governance position. Candidates must be able to demonstrate practical Data Observability experience. Responsibilities Support the adoption of Data Observability tooling across multiple business units Contribute to the organisation's Data Observability standards, including roles, responsibilities and good practice Create Data Observability playbooks and practical user documentation Help define the metrics required to measure Data Observability across the organisation Produce reporting and dashboarding documentation Work alongside the Technical Product Manager and engineering team to establish the enterprise capability Support technical discussions around Data Observability tooling and adoption Engage with technical and business stakeholders to encourage effective adoption Desired Skills and Experience Proven, hands-on experience working with Data Observability Technical background in Data Engineering, Data Governance or Data Management Practical experience with at least one established Data Observability platform Experience with tools such as Acceldata, Datadog, Monte Carlo, DQLabs or Validio, or comparable market tooling Understanding of Data Observability metrics, standards and good practice Experience creating technical documentation, playbooks or user guidance Ability to work effectively with engineering and product stakeholders Strong analytical and documentation skills Good communication skills, with the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders Summary of the Best Candidate The strongest candidate will combine a technical Data Engineering, Data Governance or Data Management background with genuine hands-on Data Observability experience. Around four years' relevant experience can be used as a guide, but the hiring manager is more interested in demonstrable practical experience than an exact number of years. The key differentiator is having actually worked with Data Observability and an established observability tool, rather than simply having theoretical knowledge of the subject. This would particularly suit someone who has contributed to tooling adoption, observability metrics, standards and documentation and is comfortable working across both technical and business audiences.

Core Responsibilities

Support adoption of Data Observability tools across business units and contribute to enterprise standards, metrics, playbooks, and user documentation. Work with the Technical Product Manager, engineering team, and business stakeholders to establish the capability and encourage effective adoption.

Requirements

Candidates need hands-on experience with Data Observability and at least one established observability platform, supported by a background in Data Engineering, Data Governance, or Data Management. They should be able to create practical documentation, understand observability metrics and standards, and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
