Job Description

Are you ready to drive commercial growth in a dynamic, high-performance environment? OTC Flow, a leading international trading and brokerage firm based in Amsterdam, is looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Commercial Strategy Analyst to join our fast-growing team. In this role, you will play a key part in identifying new market opportunities, analysing pricing dynamics, developing actionable commercial strategies, and supporting our Sales Traders in expanding their trading activities. Working at the intersection of finance, renewable energy, and environmental commodities, you will contribute directly to the growth of our Power & Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) business. If you have strong analytical skills, commercial instincts, and the ability to turn market insights into profitable business opportunities, we want to hear from you. About the Role As a Commercial Strategy Analyst at OTC Flow, you will work closely with our Power & GoOs trading desk to identify new markets, uncover trading and arbitrage opportunities, and develop strategies that support commercial growth. You will analyse European renewable electricity markets, assess pricing trends and market dynamics, and translate your findings into actionable business cases and recommendations. This is not a direct sales position. Instead, you will act as a strategic and analytical partner to our Sales Traders, helping them identify opportunities, enter new markets, strengthen their commercial positioning, and ultimately drive P&L growth. We are looking for someone who goes beyond analysing existing data: someone who proactively explores new opportunities, challenges assumptions, and brings forward ideas that can contribute to the continued expansion of our business. Key Responsibilities Identify new market opportunities: Proactively research and evaluate new geographical markets, products, and trading opportunities within European renewable electricity and Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) markets. Identify arbitrage opportunities: Analyse GoO prices, regional price differences, supply and demand dynamics, and market inefficiencies to identify potentially profitable trading opportunities. Support commercial growth: Work closely with Sales Traders to translate market intelligence into actionable commercial strategies that support revenue generation and P&L growth. Develop market-entry strategies: Assess the commercial potential of new markets by evaluating pricing, liquidity, competition, regulatory requirements, and potential profitability. Build compelling business cases: Develop data-driven recommendations and business cases for entering new markets, expanding trading activities, or introducing new products. Analyse market trends: Monitor European power and GoO markets, identifying emerging trends, pricing developments, and changes in market fundamentals. Identify potential counterparties: Research relevant market participants, potential clients, suppliers, and trading counterparties to support commercial expansion. Provide strategic insights: Deliver market intelligence, pricing analyses, and commercial recommendations that help traders make informed decisions. Monitor regulatory developments: Follow European renewable energy legislation, including RED II/RED III, and assess its impact on market dynamics and trading opportunities. Conduct competitor and market analysis: Identify gaps in the market, competitive advantages, and opportunities to strengthen OTC Flow's positioning. Develop analytical tools: Build and maintain market reports, pricing models, dashboards, and analytical frameworks to support trading and strategic decision-making. Drive continuous improvement: Proactively suggest new ideas, commercial approaches, and analytical methods that contribute to the team's efficiency and profitability. Requirements Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Energy Economics, Renewable Energy, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant experience: Previous experience in commercial strategy, market analysis, business development, energy markets, commodity trading, financial services, or a related analytical role. Strong analytical skills: Ability to analyse complex market information, interpret pricing data, and identify commercially relevant trends and opportunities. Commercial instinct: A strong understanding of how market insights can translate into business opportunities, revenue generation, and profitability. Strategic thinking: Ability to independently research new markets, evaluate their potential, and develop clear, actionable recommendations. Entrepreneurial mindset: Proactive, curious, and motivated to identify new opportunities rather than simply working with existing information. Market understanding: Interest in renewable energy, environmental commodities, financial markets, and international trading. Problem-solving ability: Confidence in approaching unfamiliar markets, asking the right questions, and developing solutions based on research and analysis. Technical skills: Strong Excel proficiency and confidence working with market data, financial models, and analytical tools. Communication skills: Ability to present complex findings clearly and convincingly to commercial stakeholders. Drive for excellence: Ambitious, results-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. Language proficiency: Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Preferred Experience in European power markets, Guarantees of Origin (GoOs), or environmental commodities trading. At least 2 years of relevant experience in commercial strategy, market research, energy trading, investment banking, consulting, or a related field. Understanding of arbitrage opportunities, pricing mechanisms, market liquidity, and supply and demand dynamics. Experience identifying new business opportunities, evaluating market-entry strategies, or developing commercial business cases. Knowledge of European renewable energy regulations, including RED II/RED III. Familiarity with AIB, EECS, and European GoO registries. Experience with financial modelling, market forecasting, or profitability analysis. Proficiency in analytical tools such as Power BI, Python, SQL, or advanced Excel. Experience working in an international trading, brokerage, renewable energy, or financial environment. What We Offer Competitive Remuneration: Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses that reward individual and company achievements. Growth Opportunities: Work in a meritocratic, innovation-driven environment that actively supports your ideas and professional development. Recognition and Rewards: We celebrate milestones with company awards, anniversary celebrations, and generous referral bonuses for bringing talented colleagues on board. Perks and Benefits: Healthy team lunches prepared by our in-house chef. A well-stocked fridge and snacks throughout the day. Covered Commute Costs: Benefit from covered commute expenses, including public transport reimbursements, a Swap-bicycle plan, mileage allowance, or free parking. Exciting Team Activities: Participate in monthly sports events, international company trips, and social activities with your department and the wider Amsterdam team. Vibrant Culture: Join a highly motivated, young, and international team based in the heart of Amsterdam. Agreement Terms: Full-time, 40-hour contract with 25 vacation days annually.
