What will you work on?

Depending on your interests and skills, you will contribute to projects such as:

  • Developing and improving backend services using Java.
  • Exploring practical applications of AI and Generative AI.
  • Building prototypes and turning successful ideas into working software.
  • Testing, documenting and improving existing solutions.
  • Working together with engineers in an Agile environment.

What are we looking for?

You are a student with an interest in software engineering who enjoys learning and experimenting with new technology.

It would be useful if you have experience or an interest in:

  • Java and software development
  • REST APIs and backend development
  • Artificial Intelligence / Generative AI
  • Automation
  • Git and modern software-development practices
  • Cloud technologies

You do not need to know everything already. Curiosity, willingness to learn and an engineering mindset are important.

What will you get from the internship?

You will gain hands-on experience working on enterprise-scale technology within ING, collaborate with experienced engineers, and have the opportunity to contribute to software and AI initiatives with practical business applications.

Rewards and benefits
This is a great opportunity to train with highly skilled people who are experts in their field. You’ll do a lot and learn a lot – not only about your specialist area and the bank, but also about yourself and whether this type of environment is right for you.
You’ll also benefit from:

  • Internship allowance of 700 EUR based on 36 hours work week
  • Your own work laptop
  • Hybrid working to blend home working for focus and office working for collaboration and co-creation
  • Personal growth and challenging work with endless possibilities
  • An informal working environment with innovative colleagues

During the duration of your internship at ING, it is mandatory to be enrolled at a Dutch university (or EU-university for EU passport holders).
