Home / Employment Opportunities / Lifeguard - PT (Seasonal) Lifeguard - PT (Seasonal) (Seasonal) Youth and Recreation Applicants 16 years of age and older are needed to work at the Clearfield and North Forest pools. Positions open all year long. Description of Duties Stands watch or patrols swimming pool keeping swimmers/bathers within bounds, and goes to their aid when it appears that they are having difficulties Applies resuscitation techniques and otherwise renders first aid May instruct beginners in swimming Keeps pool free of debris and other material that may injure swimmers Maintains order and enforces rules and regulations May perform other duties related to cleaning and adjusting equipment Qualifications Completion of an approved American Red Cross Lifeguard training program or other approved lifeguard training program as stipulated by the New York State Sanitary Code. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: All lifeguards are required to possess American Red Cross (ARC) Basic Life Support for the Professional Rescuer cardiopolmonary resuscitation (CPR) or a CPR equivalent. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificates must be renewed annually. NOTE: Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements. Core Responsibilities

Monitor and patrol pool areas, keep swimmers within safe boundaries, and assist swimmers in difficulty. Provide resuscitation and first aid, maintain pool cleanliness and order, enforce rules, and may instruct beginners or help clean and adjust equipment.

Requirements

Applicants must be at least 16 years old and have completed an approved American Red Cross or other approved lifeguard training program meeting New York State Sanitary Code requirements. Lifeguards must also hold American Red Cross Basic Life Support for the Professional Rescuer CPR certification or an equivalent, renewed annually.
