UAB-Online connects ships, terminals, traders and surveyors on one platform, making liquid and dry bulk operations safer, more efficient and more sustainable. With 𝟭𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 + users across 𝟭𝟬𝟬+ terminals and more than 𝟭,𝟬𝟬𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 vessel visits handled, we’re scaling internationally—and looking for an engineering leader to help us take the next step. 📍 𝗠𝗶𝗷𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗵𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 | Hybrid: 2 days per week in the office 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 You’ll lead and develop our 10-person in-house engineering team as we expand internationally. In a company of around 30 people, you’ll have a direct impact on our people, platform and delivery. You’ll also lead our move from individual AI coding assistants towards practical, increasingly agentic workflows across the development lifecycle—with clear safeguards for quality, security, privacy and human accountability. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗼 • Coach and develop engineers, owning hiring, performance and career progression. • Build squads with clear ownership across in-house and remote teams. • Improve delivery flow, predictability and throughput while maintaining quality and a sustainable pace. • Set standards for architecture, testing, reliability, security and maintainability. • Review architecture and challenge technical decisions without writing production features day to day. • Introduce and measure AI-enabled workflows across design, development, testing, review, documentation and operations. • Partner with the Head of Product and COO on scope, capacity, quality, risk and delivery trade-offs. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 • Experience leading more than five engineers as a Head of Engineering or Engineering Manager. • Responsibility for hiring, performance management and people development. • Experience leading distributed teams across a meaningful time-zone difference. • Technical depth to read code, review architecture and challenge designs. • Concrete examples of improving engineering practices with measurable results. • Practical experience introducing AI-assisted development tools and workflows responsibly. • Strong judgement, clear communication and comfort owning outcomes in a growing company. • Fluent English; Dutch proficiency is preferred. Experience in maritime, logistics, regulated B2B software or scaling agentic development practices is a plus. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀? Core Responsibilities

Lead and develop a 10-person engineering team, including hiring, performance management, career development, and team structure across in-house and remote groups. Improve delivery and technical quality, set engineering standards, guide architecture, introduce responsible AI-enabled workflows, and partner with product and operations leadership on delivery trade-offs.

Requirements

Candidates should have experience leading more than five engineers, managing hiring and performance, and developing people, including across distributed teams in different time zones. They should bring technical depth in code and architecture review, measurable examples of improving engineering practices, responsible experience with AI-assisted development, strong communication, and fluent English; Dutch is preferred.
