Job Description
Job Title: Product Owner Gen2 Location: High Tech Campus Eindhoven, The Netherlands Reports To: Chief Product Officer About eyeo: eyeo is an innovative, fast-growing start-up that brings groundbreaking technology in the image sensor space. Our advanced color splitter technology has the potential to disrupt a $25 billion market in the coming years, enabling transformative advancements across industries such as consumer electronics, automotive, medical imaging, and surveillance. You will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of our product offerings and contribute directly to our mission of revolutionizing the imaging technology sector. If you're passionate about driving innovation and want to build the future of imaging, we want you on our team! About the Role: We are seeking a technically strong Product Owner with deep expertise in CMOS image sensor and camera system engineering. You will be responsible for translating customer requirements into technically feasible specifications and guiding the development of integrated camera systems that leverage eyeo’s proprietary sensor technology. In this role, you will own the target product or product line end-to-end, covering all aspects from early market exploration through release and post-release adoption. This includes collecting and synthesizing the voice of the customer, understanding target applications and market dynamics, and developing a clear Market Requirements Document (MRD) that connects customer needs, technical feasibility, and business priorities. A major part of the role also includes accountability for the quality aspects of the product, ensuring that product requirements, validation plans, documentation, demonstrators, and release readiness consistently meet the expected standards. As the product progresses through its lifecycle, you will ensure that relevant use-case demonstrators and proofs of concept are planned and executed, that collateral documentation is accurate and compelling, and that the product is actively promoted both before and after release. Occasional travel is expected as part of the role, including visits to customers, participation in conferences, and representation of eyeo at relevant exhibitions and industry events. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership Own the end-to-end definition of camera system specifications, including sensor, optics, readout, and processing pipelines. Evaluate and select lens systems, define image readout protocols, and specify image processing requirements (e.g., HDR, ROI, binning, mirroring, defect correction). Customer Requirements Translation Engage with customers to understand use cases and performance expectations. Translate customer needs into detailed, technically sound product requirements. Sensor & Optics Integration Collaborate with sensor design and optics teams to ensure system-level compatibility and performance. Validate optical stack behavior and sensor readout quality using metrics such as QE, MTF, SNR, dark current, and dynamic range. System Characterization & Validation Support the definition and execution of characterization plans for CMOS image sensors and camera modules. Ensure system readiness through rigorous validation of optical and electrical performance. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with engineering, operations, and marketing to align product development with business goals. Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and roadmap reviews. Qualifications: Education: Master’s degree in engineering, computer vision, imaging science, electrical engineering, physics, or a related technical field. Experience: Required Qualifications: Proven experience in product ownership or system engineering within the imaging domain. Strong technical background in CMOS image sensor architecture, optics, and camera system integration. Familiarity with image readout protocols (e.g., D-PHY, SLVS-EC), control interfaces (I2C, SPI), and image processing pipelines. Ability to define and interpret performance metrics such as PRNU, DSNU, FPN, and dark current. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with nano-photonic structures or color splitter technologies. Knowledge of sensor packaging, stacking, and foundry processes. Exposure to applications in automotive, medical, or consumer electronics. Start-Up Mindset: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to take ownership of projects, be resourceful, and work collaboratively across teams. Enthusiasm for building a company from the ground up and playing a hands-on role in its success. Why Join eyeo? Groundbreaking Technology: Work on transformative technology with the potential to disrupt a $25 billion market and change the future of image sensing. Early Impact: As one of the first employees at eyeo, your contributions will directly shape the company’s success, culture, and product offerings. Innovation: Be part of a start-up that's pioneering new solutions in the imaging space and working on high-impact, innovative products. Collaborative Environment: Join a passionate, agile team where collaboration, trust, and innovation are at the heart of everything we do. Growth Opportunities: As eyeo scales, you’ll have opportunities to take on new challenges and responsibilities within the company.
Core Responsibilities

Coordinate sensor and optics integration, characterization, validation, quality, demonstrators, documentation, and cross-functional product development.
Requirements
Requires a master's degree in a relevant technical field and proven product ownership or system engineering experience in imaging. Candidates should have strong knowledge of CMOS sensor architecture, optics, camera integration, readout and control interfaces, image processing, and sensor performance metrics, along with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
About eyeo
Industry: Semiconductor Manufacturing
Company size: 11-50 employees
eyeo is redefining imaging with the world’s most advanced nanophotonic color-splitting technology. For the first time, image sensors can capture all incoming light, overcoming the 70% light loss imposed by decades-old color filter technology. Instead of filtering photons, eyeo’s technology guides them directly to individual pixels, unlocking full light sensitivity and native color fidelity in any condition. Compatible with any CMOS sensor platform, eyeo enables sub-0.5-micron pixels for ultra-compact, high-performance imaging where image quality is critical. eyeo is headquartered at High Tech Campus Eindhoven (NL), with a sensor design center in Antwerp (BE).
