Job Description

About Nxt Museum Nxt Museum is the dedicated home of New Media Art founded in 2020 in Amsterdam. We are passionate about art, technology, science and innovation and are on a mission to push the boundaries of what a museum can be. Nxt Museum offers a platform for the presentation of large-scale installations by some of the most exciting and forward-thinking voices in the arts. Nxt has built a growing portfolio of immersive exhibitions and expanded its mission through a dynamic public programme including music, performance, research, and education. Role Overview As Junior Technical Producer, you’ll play a hands-on role in bringing new artworks to life, producing events and keeping the museum running smoothly. You’ll work closely with pioneering artists to realise high-tech, large-scale installations, helping translate their artistic vision into what’s technically possible. Alongside this, you’ll support the production of B2B events for well-known clients, from award shows and conferences to product launches. Behind the scenes, you’ll take care of daily technical operations, preventative hardware maintenance and logistics for our rotating exhibitions and events. You’ll be part of our operations team, working closely with our arts & culture and sales departments, as well as with external technicians and suppliers. You will also work closely with our in-house experience team, troubleshooting issues to ensure the best experience possible for our visitors. Key Responsibilities Exhibition Maintenance: Regular checks of all hardware and software systems to ensure the smooth running of all equipment. Troubleshooting & Support: Resolving technical glitches, software bugs, or hardware issues to minimise visitor disruption. Exhibition Build Assistance: Support the installation of new media art exhibitions, supporting hardware rigging, cable management, and signal routing. Event Tech Setup: Assist in setting up and operating audiovisual equipment for private B2B bookings, cultural programming, and educational workshops. Asset & Inventory Management: Maintain and organise the museum’s inventory of tech assets, including projectors, media servers, audio equipment, etc. Documentation: Update and create technical operational manuals for installations for our on-site experience team to refer to. What We’re Looking For Education/Experience: A degree or background in Creative Technology, Audio-Visual Production, Interactive Media, Live Event Tech, or a related field. 1-2 years of practical experience (internships included) is a big plus. AV & Tech Fundamentals: A solid understanding of tech fundamentals - such as projection mapping, video signal flow (HDMI, SDI, NDI), media servers, and networking (IP routing for art installations). Interactive Frameworks: Exposure to or a strong desire to learn software tools commonly used in new media art, such as TouchDesigner, Resolume, WATCHOUT, QLab, etc. Audio/Lighting Literacy: Comfortable with basic digital audio routing (Dante), and lighting control systems (DMX, ArtNet). Mindset: A highly proactive, analytical problem-solver with a structured approach who handles live troubleshooting under pressure with a calm, positive attitude. Languages: Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is a plus. Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours (early starts or late finishes, and occasionally on weekends) with time for time compensation. What We Offer A unique chance to work directly with pioneering international digital artists and cutting-edge interactive technology. An energetic, international, open-minded, and inclusive workplace in the creative heart of Amsterdam-Noord. Hands-on mentorship and opportunities to learn in a fast moving industry. A junior salary in line with Dutch cultural industry standards. Free access to Nxt exhibitions and invitation to our community events, club nights, and panel sessions. Museumkaart subscription. Deadline for applications: 09:00 Monday 16th November, 2026 Start date: January / February 2027 Contract: 40 hours per week Location: on-site in Amsterdam Noord If you have any questions about your application, please contact [email protected]
