Senior Data Engineer | Azure Data Platform Den Haag | Hybrid | ASAP Build and shape the central cloud data platform of a Dutch bank. As a Senior Data Engineer, you bring deep Azure expertise, lead the technical delivery and help the team grow. What you’ll work on You are the technical backbone of the data engineering team, building a platform that delivers stable, trusted data for business and regulatory reporting. You work on: Designing, deploying and maintaining data applications on Azure using Terraform Building scalable, reusable data pipelines with Azure Data Factory, Databricks (Unity Catalog) and dbt Consolidating data infrastructure across the bank into one central data platform Creating solution designs and leading delivery across multiple projects Mentoring junior and medior engineers in their technical development Driving AI initiatives, such as LLM-based tooling that speeds up engineering workflows Your environment You work as a consultant at our client, as part of the Data & Analytics platform team. The bank is going through a merger, which means data flows will change significantly, making this a role with real impact. Core Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and maintain Azure data applications and scalable pipelines, while consolidating the bank’s data infrastructure into a central platform. Lead technical delivery across projects, mentor engineers, and drive AI initiatives that improve engineering workflows.
Requirements
Requires 5+ years of data engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Azure, including Data Factory and ADLS. Candidates should also have experience with Databricks and Unity Catalog, dbt, Terraform, Git, CI/CD, and technical leadership or mentoring.
