Health Economics Consultant
Key Skills
Job Description
Health Economics Consultant Are you a health economist with hands-on modelling experience who wants to contribute to sustainable and cost-effective healthcare? Do you enjoy building and critically reviewing economic models and turning complex clinical and economic evidence into robust, decision-relevant analyses? Then this role at Asc Academics could be the perfect fit for you! We’re seeking two motivated Health Economics Consultants to strengthen our Market Access team. You’ll develop, adapt and review cost-effectiveness and budget impact models, with a focus on Dutch HTA submissions to Zorginstituut Nederland (ZIN). You’ll also contribute to the pharmacoeconomic dossiers these models support and, when workload allows, to our Economic Modelling and Value and Strategy teams. Who are we? Asc Academics supports healthcare decision making in the public and private sectors with evidence-based research. Founded in 2015 and based in Groningen and Utrecht, we are a consultancy with global connections in market access and health economics. We combine academic rigour, business insight and creativity to uncover the economic and societal value of healthcare innovations, across a wide range of therapeutic areas. We are growing fast. In 2026 we were Great Place to Work Certified™ and won the FD Gazelle Award as one of the fastest growing companies in the Netherlands. Our team of 40+ professionals comes from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, united by one goal: better healthcare worldwide. We have a flat structure, get together often, value a healthy work life balance, and English is our working language. Key Responsibilities In this position, you will lead the economic analyses behind our Market Access projects and help translate them into strong reimbursement submissions. Your key responsibilities include: Adapt global models to the Dutch setting in line with ZIN guidelines and Dutch pharmacoeconomic methodology. Write the economic sections of Dutch pharmacoeconomic dossiers and technical model reports, ensuring a clear link between evidence, analyses and conclusions. Identify, critically appraise and incorporate clinical, utility, resource use and cost inputs, including survival extrapolation and indirect treatment comparison outputs. Perform thorough quality checks on models, inputs and assumptions to ensure technical accuracy and transparency. Discuss methodological choices, assumptions and evidence gaps with colleagues and clients. Develop, adapt and validate cost-effectiveness and budget impact models (for example Markov, partitioned survival and decision tree models) in Excel, and where relevant in R. Conduct deterministic and probabilistic sensitivity analyses and scenario analyses, and interpret the results clearly. Manage multiple projects in parallel, take ownership of your deliverables and work independently while collaborating across teams. Support other Market Access, economic modelling and value and strategy projects when needed. Who are you? You are a health economist who enjoys the technical side of modelling as much as interpreting what the results mean for decision makers. You are analytical, detail-oriented, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility for your own work. You can manage several projects and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality. What do you bring with you? A master’s degree (or PhD) in health economics, econometrics, epidemiology, health sciences or a related quantitative field. More than 2 years of experience in pharmacoeconomic modelling, preferably in a consultancy, HTA or industry setting. Hands-on experience building and adapting cost-effectiveness and budget impact models in Excel (VBA is a plus). Good knowledge of Dutch pharmacoeconomic methodology and ZIN requirements, ideally including contributions to dossiers submitted to ZIN. Familiarity with survival analysis and extrapolation, utility estimation and uncertainty analysis. Strong attention to detail and experience with model quality control. Excellent written and spoken Dutch and English. Experience with R, other HTA bodies (such as NICE or G-BA), indirect treatment comparisons, client interaction or mentoring junior colleagues would be an advantage. An interest in broader Market Access activities, including JCA, is also welcome. What do we offer you? A challenging, development-focused role at an award-winning, growing organisation, with attractive terms of employment: A contract of 32 to 40 hours per week for a fixed term of six months up to one year, with the possibility of extension or a permanent contract. A competitive salary with the possibility of an annual increase, including 8% holiday allowance and an end-of-year benefit of 8.33%. 30 holidays per year (based on full-time employment). Participation in our generous pension program. A paid lunch break of one hour per working day. A monthly discount on your sports subscription. A commuting allowance if you live more than 10 km from your workplace. The possibility to work from our offices in Groningen or Utrecht, with home working arrangements. Continuous professional development through events and courses aligned with your work. Fun team events throughout the year. Ready to apply? If this opportunity aligns with your expertise and career aspirations, we would love to hear from you. Submit your CV and motivation letter to [email protected]. The application deadline is 13 November 2026
