Job Description

We’re building Odea, an AI-native learning environment that helps students and educational institutions integrate AI into education responsibly. We’re a team of three engineers, working together to build and maintain our software systems. As an intern, you’ll work directly under my supervision. I want someone who genuinely aspires to become a great software engineer. You understand that it’s a craft, and that mastering it takes a lot of time and effort. That’s why perseverance is essential for this position. We take pride in our work and believe in building things carefully and reliably. We care about solid engineering principles, and I want you to build a strong foundation in them. In my opinion, that foundation is built by doing the work yourself. If you’re looking for an internship where you can simply delegate most of the work to an AI agent, this probably isn’t the right fit. We are first and foremost an EdTech company, so education is in our DNA, and we’ll put a lot of time into your growth. You’ll have the freedom to work across the full stack, and we’ll figure out together what you want to learn and get out of this internship. The internship is 6 months, full-time. A background in an engineering discipline is preferred. We’re based in Amsterdam and require at least three days per week in the office.

Core Responsibilities

Work under the supervisor’s guidance to build and maintain Odea’s software systems. Contribute across the full stack while developing software carefully and reliably.

Requirements

The candidate should be motivated to become a strong software engineer, willing to persevere, and interested in building a solid foundation in engineering principles through hands-on work. An engineering-discipline background is preferred, and the candidate must be able to work in the Amsterdam office at least three days per week for the six-month, full-time internship.
