Job Description

The driving force behind our success has always been the people of AspenTech. What drives us, is our aspiration, our desire and ambition to keep pushing the envelope, overcoming any hurdle, challenging the status quo to continually find a better way. You will experience these qualities of passion, pride and aspiration in many ways — from a rich set of career development programs to support of community service projects to social events that foster fun and relationship building across our global community.

The Role

You will own end-to-end delivery of OT software projects for European utilities — from contract handover to formal close. You will be accountable for scope, schedule, budget, quality and customer satisfaction.
You will work with senior engineers, customer executives and our sales team, and lead multicultural teams in a matrix organisation. Beyond your own projects, you will help strengthen our European delivery model.

Your Impact

What you'll do

Plan and deliver

  • Build and run project plans aligned to contractual commitments, with clear milestones for delivery, invoicing and resourcing.
  • Manage risks and issues proactively, with mitigation plans tailored to each project.
  • Set and enforce quality standards through regular project reviews.
  • Lead formal project closure: final reviews, lessons learned and a clean handover to support.

Own the numbers

  • Manage budgets, forecasts and financial reporting, including revenue recognition and milestone billing.
  • Control costs and allocate resources to protect margin.
  • Spot change requests and follow-on opportunities, and work with sales to pursue them.

Lead people and stakeholders

  • Lead and mentor multicultural project teams across a matrix organisation.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer sponsors and internal stakeholders.
  • Report progress, risks and decisions clearly to executives and sponsors.
  • Use customer feedback and survey results to raise satisfaction.

Improve how we deliver

  • Help define and embed the European delivery model and governance standards.
  • Remove bottlenecks and share lessons learned across projects.
  • Support pre-sales with proposal, deal and contract reviews, focusing on scope, risk and commercial terms.

What You'll Need

What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years managing complex, large-scale projects, ideally software or systems delivery in the power utilities sector.
  • Solid knowledge of at least two of: generation, transmission, distribution.
  • A track record of full P&L accountability for customer projects: budgets, forecasts, milestone billing and change control.
  • Experience leading multicultural technical teams in a matrix organisation.
  • Confidence with both senior engineers and customer executives; you handle conflict calmly and negotiate well.
  • Strong commercial sense and structured problem-solving.
  • Fluent English, spoken and written.
  • Willingness to travel across Europe 25–75% of the time, depending on project phase.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • PMP, PRINCE2 or IPMA certification.
  • Hands-on experience with EMS, SCADA, ADMS or similar control-room systems.
  • Dutch or German; another European language is also valued.

Core Responsibilities

The project manager will own the end-to-end delivery of OT software projects for European utilities, managing scope, budget, and quality from handover to closure. They will lead multicultural teams, manage financial reporting, and strengthen the European delivery model through governance and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Electrical or Systems Engineering and over 8 years of experience in large-scale software or systems delivery within the power utilities sector. Strong commercial acumen, P&L management experience, and fluency in English are required, with travel availability across Europe.

Benefits

  • Career development programs
  • Community service project support
  • Social events
