Job Description

Introduction

You will join the Process Technology team in Veldhoven, where engineering, data, and long-term infrastructure planning come together. As ASML continues to grow, utility infrastructure must be planned years ahead to support future manufacturing demand. This internship focuses on transforming an existing framework into a practical and scalable planning and decision-support system. Together with another intern, you will help shape the next stage of ASML’s Five-Year Utility Master Plan. This internship offers the opportunity to create lasting impact on future infrastructure, capacity, and investment decisions.

Your assignment

During this Mechanical Engineering | Systems Engineering internship: strategic utility master plan, you will work as part of a two-person project team to develop a working prototype of ASML’s Five-Year Utility Master Plan. Building on the foundation created by previous interns, you will analyze current infrastructure, evaluate future demand scenarios, and translate insights into clear recommendations. You will collaborate with subject matter experts, challenge assumptions, and help create an evidence-based approach for future planning. Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Translate growth scenarios into future utility demand forecasts
  • Assess current utility infrastructure, performance, and available capacity
  • Identify capacity gaps, constraints, and decision trigger points
  • Develop future infrastructure scenarios and spatial planning concepts
  • Evaluate investment needs, sustainability considerations, and total cost of ownership
  • Enhance and further develop the existing utility dashboard and reporting structure
  • Present data-driven recommendations for future capacity and infrastructure decisions

This is a master’s internship for minimum 5 months, minimum 4 days per week (3 days on-site). The start date of this internship is as of February 2027.

Your profile

To be suitable for the internship, you:

  • Are pursuing a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, industrial engineering, data science, or a related technical field
  • Experience with Python, Power BI and other similar tools
  • Have strong analytical skills  and enjoy solving complex, open-ended challenges
  • Demonstrate proactive behavior and take ownership of your work
  • Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Can translate data into clear insights, recommendations, and actions.

This internship is particularly suited to students who enjoy combining engineering, data analysis, scenario planning, and business decision-making. You will work closely with another intern throughout the project, making teamwork, stakeholder communication, and collaboration essential for success. Through this internship, you will contribute to a scalable planning approach that helps ASML anticipate future utility infrastructure needs rather than react to them. Your work will support informed decisions on capacity, space reservations, technology choices, and future investments.

Other requirements you need to meet:

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship, and you are at least 18 years old at the start of the internship;
  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement);
  • You attach your cover letter with a clear motivation on why you are interested in this internship assignment in particular;
