Job Description

Water-safety professionals use our software to keep Legionella out of the buildings where people live and work. Behind it runs a platform on Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Cloudflare and GitLab CI. Not managed by clicking around in consoles. Managed in code, through review, with AI agents at your side every day. We have 1 DevOps engineer today. You’re the second. What you design is what runs in production. That’s where you come in. About BriqSafe Buildings should be safe. Not confusing, not stressful, not dependent on guesswork. For over 10 years, LegionellaDossier has helped water hygiene teams across the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and Belgium keep buildings compliant. More than 19,000 people use our software every day, across more than 100,000 buildings. Now we’re building BriqSafe: one AI-driven platform for water, fire, asbestos and more. We’re 35+ colleagues in 5 countries, with our home base in Amsterdam. What You’ll Achieve In your first 3 months, you know the platform inside out, join the on-call rotation and ship changes through Terraform and Helmfile In your first 6 months, you lead whole workstreams end to end, and developers work safely with agents thanks to guardrails you built In your first 12 months, every change is code, every restore is tested, and audit evidence comes out of routine work What You’ll Do Your mission: keep production healthy, make shipping fast and safe, and keep us audit-ready. Run Kubernetes on Google Cloud: GKE and Helmfile releases, upgrades, capacity and cost Use AI agents daily to investigate incidents, automate operations and change infrastructure. Then build the MCP servers, skills and guardrails so developers can do the same. Manage Google Cloud, Cloudflare and GitLab in Terraform. No changes by hand. Own CI/CD: shared GitLab CI templates, image builds, runners, preview environments and mobile builds Keep data services safe: Cloud SQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka and Elasticsearch, with backups and tested restores Lead monitoring, alerting, on-call and post-mortems, plus the IAM, secrets and evidence behind SOC 2, Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001 Our stack. Core, used daily: GKE, Helm and Helmfile, Terraform, Google Cloud, Cloudflare (DNS, WAF, Zero Trust, Tunnels), GitLab CI, Grafana Cloud, Sentry, OpenTelemetry, and Claude Code with MCP servers. Also in the mix: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Kafka, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, Node.js and PHP. You need depth in the core. The rest you’ll learn on the job. Your Team You report to our Head of Engineering and co-own the platform with our current DevOps engineer. You work closely with front-end and mobile, backend, QA and the product owner. Every change goes through a reviewed merge request. Risky actions are staged, announced and have a rollback ready. What You Bring You debug from evidence, not hunches. And you reach for an AI agent before you reach for the console. 4+ years in DevOps, SRE or platform engineering, including 2+ years running production Kubernetes Daily, hands-on use of AI coding agents like Claude Code, with sound judgement about review and guardrails Strong Terraform and Helm, and hands-on Google Cloud: GKE, Cloud SQL, IAM and networking CI/CD pipelines and runners you built and maintained, not only used Production experience with backups and restores, useful alerts, least privilege and honest post-mortems Solid Linux, networking and scripting in Bash, Python or Go, and clear written English Nice to have Cloudflare WAF, Zero Trust and Workers, managed in Terraform SOC 2, ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials experience Building MCP servers, agent skills or guardrails for coding agents If you’d rather fix things by hand in a console, this probably isn’t your role. If you enjoy making complex systems simple, safe and well-documented, we’d love to talk. Don’t tick every box? Apply anyway. We hire for how you think and learn, not for a perfect match on paper. What We Offer A full-time role, based in Amsterdam Real ownership. What you design is what runs in production. AI agents as the core of the job, not a side experiment

Core Responsibilities

Operate and improve the production platform on Google Cloud, including Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, data services, monitoring, and incident response. Build safe AI-agent workflows and maintain security, backup, recovery, and audit readiness.

Requirements

Requires 4+ years in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering, including 2+ years operating production Kubernetes, plus hands-on experience with AI coding agents. Candidates should have strong Terraform and Helm skills, Google Cloud and CI/CD experience, and practical knowledge of production reliability, security, Linux, networking, and scripting.
