Job Description

How do you make our customers happy? By ensuring that bol's most strategic logistics investments translate into reliable network capabilities. As Project Manager Infra Development, you lead complex, cross-organisational projects that expand or improve our fulfilment network. You translate strategic objectives into a controlled delivery approach, align internal teams and external partners, and ensure the intended capability is delivered safely, within scope, planning, and budget, and ready for operational use. The biggest challenge Creating direction, control, and alignment in strategic, high-risk projects where business requirements, technology, operations, suppliers, and organisational change come together. Dependencies span several workstreams and organisational boundaries. You keep the integral overview, resolve competing interests, and remain accountable for the project outcome while directing multiple teams and senior stakeholders. What You'll Do As Project Manager Infra Development You'll join the Infrastructure Development team, which delivers a broad portfolio of strategic, capital-intensive logistics projects, typically with budgets exceeding EUR 100 million. Assignments range from outsourced warehouses and cross-functional brownfield transformations to major streams within greenfield warehouse programmes. Your first assignment is expected to focus on the delivery, integration, go-live, and ramp-up of a dedicated warehouse designed and operated by a logistics service provider. The role is designed for deployment across our broader portfolio of strategic logistics infrastructure projects. Define the delivery strategy and integrated project plan, translating strategic objectives and business requirements into clear priorities, accountabilities, and outcomes. Lead multidisciplinary teams and major workstreams across bol, suppliers, and partners, while maintaining end accountability for the project outcome. Own integrated project controls and governance across scope, schedule, budget, risks, quality, requirements, dependencies, changes, and business-case outcomes. Manage strategic suppliers and partners on contracts, interfaces, progress, performance, operational readiness, and value for money, intervening when delivery falls short. Embed safety, permits, compliance, testing, go-live, ramp-up, and handover in one coherent delivery approach. Resolve strategic risks and competing interests across organisational boundaries and provide clear decision proposals and transparent reporting to directors and governance bodies. Improve project delivery standards and coach project managers across Infrastructure Development. Why you can make a difference You have a proven track record of leading large, strategic, capital-intensive projects and remain accountable from definition through go-live and ramp-up. Project experience in logistics, infrastructure, engineering, industrial, automation, or similarly complex operational environments is essential. You combine strong project controls with the ability to integrate business, operational, commercial, and technical perspectives, direct multiple teams, and influence directors and external partners. Experience with major contracts, safety, permits, compliance, operational readiness, and outsourced delivery models is highly valuable. Experience working with logistics service providers or outsourced fulfilment models is a plus, not a prerequisite. Fluency in English is expected; Dutch is desirable. Where you'll work You'll join the Infrastructure Development team within bol's logistics organisation. We deliver the projects that keep our fulfilment network scalable, efficient, safe, compliant, and future-ready. The environment is collaborative and hands-on: we bring different perspectives together, share knowledge openly, and hold each other and our partners accountable for results. Something for you? Integral programme leader: You connect strategy, requirements, controls, teams, and partners into one accountable delivery approach. Strategic decision-maker: You resolve competing interests and create clear choices for senior stakeholders without losing delivery pace. Outcome owner: You remain accountable through integration, go-live, ramp-up, and realisation of the intended business value. Nothing for you? Single-domain specialist: You prefer leading one technical discipline rather than integrating the full project and its business outcome. Contract spectator: You assume contracts or governance will manage performance without active leadership and intervention. Consensus seeker: You postpone difficult decisions until everyone agrees, even when speed and clear ownership are required. We take pride in our B Corp certification and strive for continuous improvement every day. Our annual bonus is tied to sustainability goals, and we are committed to equality and equal opportunities for all.Perks of having a blue heart 29 days: to recharge Travel costs: Public transport, car, parking & charging covered Pension plan: 75% premium covered Annual bonus: Based on sustainability goals

About bol

Industry: Retail

Company size: 1,001-5,000 employees

Bol is the largest online retailer in the Netherlands and Belgium. In 1999 we opened our virtual doors as first online bookstore in the Netherlands. Nowadays we’re working with 2.000 colleagues to deliver the best shopping platform ever. To be able to do this we have expanded our shopping platform in the 20 years of our existence. 2010 was the beginning of bol.com in Belgium. The first step towards our southern neighbors. And we opened our shopping platform to other retailers, for our customers to be able to find ‘everything’ on bol.com. Since 2016 it is possible for our partners to advertise via bol.com. And in 2017 Huub Vermeulen opened the doors of our bol fulfilment center. Shortly: together with 2.000 bol.commers we work to make the daily lives of our customer easier.
