Job Description

๐Ÿš€ Do you enjoy working where firmware meets hardware? Looking for an internship where your code runs on real devices in the field, in more than 25 countries? At Agurotech, we're building smart agricultural technology to help farmers make better decisions about water, soil, and climate. As a fast-growing AgTech startup operating in 25+ countries, we combine innovative sensors, weather stations, and software to make agriculture smarter and more sustainable. We're looking for a hands-on and motivated Embedded Systems Intern to join our engineering team in Amsterdam! This isn't an internship where you'll work on a side project nobody uses. You'll write firmware for our soil moisture sensors, build new features on Zephyr RTOS, and help test, debug, and improve the hardware that farmers depend on every day. Our devices have to run for years on a battery and stay connected in fields with weak signal, so every design choice you make matters. ๐Ÿš€ What will you do? Develop and maintain firmware in C for Nordic nRF microcontrollers, mainly using Zephyr RTOS. Build new firmware features for our soil moisture sensors, from idea to field deployment. Work with cellular IoT connectivity using LTE-M, NB-IoT, and LTE Cat 1 bis, and make devices reliable in low-signal conditions. Measure and optimize power consumption, so our sensors run as long as possible on a battery. Test and debug hardware using tools such as J-Link debuggers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power profilers. Design simple 2โ€“4 layer PCBs, such as test jigs and sensor breakout boards. Support EMC pre-compliance testing and help apply EMC-aware design practices to our products. Help investigate issues from devices in the field and turn the findings into firmware or hardware improvements. Collaborate with the data, operations and production teams to ship reliable IoT products to customers around the world. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of features, bring fresh ideas to the table, and see your work running on devices in fields across the globe. ๐Ÿ‘€ Who are we looking for? You're currently studying Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. You're in the final stage of your studies, having completed most of your university coursework. You have experience programming in C on microcontrollers. Experience with Zephyr or a similar RTOS (such as FreeRTOS) is a strong plus. You understand basic electronics and are comfortable reading schematics and using lab equipment. Knowledge of cellular IoT, remote OTA firmware updates, low-power design, or EMC is a plus, but you don't need to know it all yet. You're fluent in English, both written and spoken. You're available to work 5 days per week from our office in Amsterdam, conveniently located next to Isolatorweg metro station. You enjoy a mix of hardware and software, and you like to find out why something doesn't work. You're proactive, curious, structured, and eager to learn. No experience in AgTech? No problem! We'll introduce you to our technology, products, and market. ๐ŸŒ Why join Agurotech? ๐Ÿ”ง Real hands-on experience โ€“ Write firmware and work on hardware that ships to customers from day one. ๐ŸŒŽ Global impact โ€“ Your work runs on devices deployed in 25+ countries. ๐Ÿ”‹ Real-world constraints โ€“ Learn to design for long battery life, weak cellular signal, and harsh outdoor conditions. ๐Ÿš€ Startup experience โ€“ Learn how a fast-growing technology company builds and ships IoT products. ๐Ÿ’ก Freedom & ownership โ€“ Bring your ideas, take initiative, and develop your skills. ๐Ÿค Learning opportunities โ€“ Work closely with experienced hardware and firmware engineers. ๐Ÿ“ Amsterdam-based team โ€“ Join a young, ambitious, and collaborative working environment. ๐Ÿš€ Ready to grow with us? If you're excited about combining firmware, hardware, and IoT to make agriculture smarter, we'd love to hear from you! ๐Ÿ“ฉ Send your CV to [email protected] or apply directly via LinkedIn. Let's grow smarter agriculture together! ?
