Software Engineer Java & React | Leiden | Hybrid (3 days office, 2 from home) | up to €5,000 per month

About the organisation
Our client is an international tech company and library cooperative with its global headquarters in the United States and offices in Leiden and Eelde. From Leiden, a development team builds and maintains a metadata management platform that national libraries and regional library consortia in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Japan use to manage very large collections. The product has grown over decades into a flexible and commercially successful system.
The team
You join an experienced team of 10 software engineers, 2 test engineers and a technical manager. Because the team is quite senior, there is room for someone with a little less experience who wants to grow alongside strong colleagues.
What will you do?
- Design, build and test new functionality and improvements to the platform
- Analyse and solve problems in existing systems
- Help translate requirements into designs and working code
- Take part in unit, system and acceptance testing, architecture reviews and performance testing
- Work on continuous integration, development environments and software releases
- Use AI tools as a standard part of your development work
Who are we looking for?
- At least 4 years of experience as a software engineer
- A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience with Java/Spring and with React
- Experience with AWS (Lambda, EKS, ECS)
- Good knowledge of Linux and scripting
- Experience with PostgreSQL and Git is a plus; C is an advantage
- Hands-on use of AI tools in your daily work
- Good English; Dutch is not required
- A team player who enjoys working in an agile, international environment

- A salary of up to €5,000 gross per month, depending on experience, plus an end-of-year bonus
