AI Engineer (Full-Time - Remote) BaaSForge is an open-source backend platform built for developers who'd rather spend their time on the product than on the backend behind it. We are looking for a skilled AI Engineer to join our international team on a full-time remote basis to help us build the next generation of developer tools. What you'll do: • Design and implement AI-native features (RAG, inference, prompt engineering) directly into the BaaSForge platform • Integrate and evaluate LLM-based workflows to make backend development faster and more intuitive for our users • Build benchmarking and evaluation pipelines for AI features to ensure high performance and reliability • Collaborate on API design and data pipelines connecting AI models to our core infrastructure • Take ownership of AI features from prompt design to production deployment and scalability Must-haves: • Strong experience building production applications with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source models) • Hands-on experience with RAG architectures, vector databases, and semantic search • Solid programming skills (Rust, Python and TypeScript/Node.js) • Deep understanding of AI evaluation, benchmarking, and performance optimization • High level of ownership, responsibility, and follow-through • Fast responsiveness and strong availability (very important for a remote startup) Nice to have: • Experience with AI evaluation frameworks (LangSmith, DeepEval, RAGAS) • Familiarity with vector databases (pgvector, Qdrant, Milvus) • Experience building developer tools (DevEx, CLIs, APIs) or working on BaaS/PaaS products • Knowledge of open-source LLMs and fine-tuning • Observability tools for AI (Langfuse, Helicone, OpenTelemetry) • Background in distributed systems or security engineering

Core Responsibilities

Design and integrate AI-native features and LLM workflows into the BaaSForge platform, including RAG, inference, and prompt engineering. Build evaluation and benchmarking pipelines, connect AI models to core infrastructure through APIs and data pipelines, and take AI features from design through production deployment and scaling.

Requirements

Candidates must have production experience building applications with LLMs, hands-on experience with RAG, vector databases, and semantic search, and strong programming skills in Rust, Python, and TypeScript/Node.js. They should understand AI evaluation, benchmarking, and performance optimization, and demonstrate ownership, follow-through, responsiveness, and availability.
