Job Description
Manage ATS delivery and core platform development projects in an interim assignment in Utrecht, initially for 6–12 months with the option to extend. Within 2getthere, we deliver Autonomous Transport Systems (ATS) based on fleets of electrified and self-driving shuttles or pods. 2getthere is the first in market to have delivered fully operational and certified SAE Level 4 (L4) autonomous transport systems without safety stewards onboard — bringing the future to life, today. Due to our growth, we are looking for an experienced Interim Project Manager at our location in Utrecht, the Netherlands, for an initial period of 6 - 12 months, with the option to extend. As Interim Project Manager you will manage the delivery of Autonomous Transport System projects for our customer applications. Alongside this, you will run core platform development projects — the increments to our technology stack that make their way into those customer applications — against agreed scope, schedule, budget and quality. You will work closely alongside our project management and engineering teams, who will onboard you on our products and processes, and you will cooperate closely with our customers, suppliers and senior management. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running. About the assignment and our ambition 2getthere is strategically positioned to develop autonomous driving technology and autonomous transport systems “as a service”. We are the first in market to have delivered fully operational and certified L4 autonomous transport systems without safety stewards onboard. In this interim assignment you will work as part of 2getthere’s project and program management team. Our mission and vision is to be a full ATS provider, delivering increased value to Public Transport Operators through improved safety, accessibility and availability in a multi-modal mobility landscape, configured to order based on 2getthere’s proven technology stack. The project and program management team exists to execute, manage and deliver projects in line with these strategic objectives, by optimising cost-effectiveness and flexibility while minimising project risk, complexity and overhead. You will work closely with the Head of Projects, who is responsible for the overall project and program management within 2getthere and is your point of contact for the assignment. Scope of the assignment Manage ATS application and core platform development projects from initiation to completion, on time and on budget, in an international project environment. Secure and organise project resourcing in coordination with the functional leads. Align and prioritise project team activities with overall project goals. Own certification and authorisation milestones: coordinate evidence delivery with the safety assurance team and manage the interface with independent assessors, notified bodies and authorities. Manage contracts, changes and issues, including supplier and subcontractor management. Own the project risk register across technical, commercial and schedule risk. Manage civil and infrastructure interfaces and on-site commissioning. Prepare and present project reporting to the steering committee and the management team. Bring in best practices from your previous interim assignments and contribute to project retrospectives, measures of success and lessons learned. Ensure clear and transparent communication within projects and between projects and the rest of the organisation. Ensure a structured handover of project status, documentation and open items at the end of the assignment. Your skills and expertise Must-have A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a project manager, with a proven track record of successfully delivered projects, preferably including interim assignments. Proven experience in project management within a complex, multi-disciplinary technical environment in an international context. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent through experience, preferably technical. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (mandatory). Dutch is not required. Cost- and time-conscious, with a consistent ability to meet deadlines. Working as an independent contractor (e.g. registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) or a foreign equivalent) or available through an interim agency or payroll provider. Available to start as soon as possible. Nice-to-have Experience in rail, transit or signalling. A systems-engineering environment with functional safety exposure (e.g. ISO 26262, EN 50126, IEC 61508). Experience with civil and infrastructure interfaces and on-site commissioning abroad. Certification in PRINCE2, IPMA or PMP. Dutch language skills. Your characteristics You take ownership: when something is unclear or stuck, you are the one who moves it. You get up to speed quickly in a new organisation and deliver results from the first weeks. You are proactive, organised and accurate, and able to move between the detail and the bigger picture. You are flexible, perseverant and a team player. You are customer-focused, with strong communication and presentation skills and a good grasp of critical and commercial topics. You are willing to travel internationally — up to 20–30% of the time, typically in blocks of one to two weeks. Assignment details This is an interim assignment based in Utrecht, with the chance to shape the delivery of the world’s first certified, driverless L4 transport systems. Contract type: interim, as an independent contractor (ZZP) or via an interim agency. Duration: an initial 6 – 12 months, with the option to extend. Start date: as soon as possible Location: hybrid, with 3 days per week at our Utrecht office. Rate: a competitive hourly or daily rate, in line with your experience and the seniority of the assignment. Travel: international travel of up to 20–30%; travel and accommodation costs reimbursed in line with the contract. On top of that, you get a pivotal role in a company that combines thirty years of engineering pedigree with the pace and ambition of a business now scaling commercially, working on genuinely pioneering technology alongside experienced project management and engineering teams.
