Job Description

At TicketSwap, we're on a mission to become the experience marketplace every fan loves. By bringing fans and experiences together, we help millions of people attend more events they love while supporting organisers in building lasting success. With over 20 million fans across 42 countries, we're making live events safer, fairer and more accessible. As we continue to grow, we're navigating an increasingly complex legal and regulatory landscape. Building innovative products while staying compliant across different markets is essential to our success. That's why we're looking for a Senior Legal Counsel who combines strong legal expertise with a practical, forward-thinking mindset. Are you ready to help shape the future of live experiences by making sure great ideas can become reality, responsibly? Keep reading! 👇 What you'll do As our Senior Legal Counsel, you'll play an important role in helping TicketSwap grow and innovate with confidence. You'll act as a strategic business partner working closely with teams across the business to identify legal opportunities and risks, translate complex regulations into practical advice, and make sure compliance is considered from the start when developing new products and features. You’ll join our Legal team, reporting to the Head of Legal and working alongside our Legal Counsel. When an idea is brought to you, you look for ways to make it work within the rules, not reasons to say no. You know how to spot risks without slowing the business down. You'll combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, balancing legal requirements with commercial opportunities, keeping the interests of our fans and organisers in mind. Your key responsibilities: Pro-actively shape product development: Join early in discovery and refinement, partnering closely with Product, Engineering and other teams to assess legal and regulatory requirements before new features and services are developed or launched and you are responsible for keeping them compliant after launch. Own the implementation of and compliance with (European) regulations: Research, interpret and advise on relevant EU (e.g. DSA, GDPR, AI Act) and national (ticketing) legislation, helping TicketSwap operate confidently across different markets. Turn legal complexity into clear risk-based advice: Translate regulations and legal risks into practical recommendations that enable teams to make informed decisions. Identify risks before they become problems: Proactively monitor (cross-border) regulatory developments, assess their potential impact and recommend and help prioritize appropriate actions. Support international growth: Advise on the legal implications of entering new markets, expanding existing operations and introducing new products or business models. Build legal awareness: Share knowledge and help colleagues understand the legal considerations relevant to their work, creating a culture of shared responsibility. Take ownership: Independently manage legal matters from initial assessment to resolution, knowing when to involve others and when to challenge the status quo. About you We're looking for someone who sees legal expertise as a way to enable progress, not just manage risk. You're confident in your judgement, curious about how businesses and technology work, and comfortable operating in an international environment where things move quickly. You enjoy working with people from different disciplines and know how to build trust through clear communication, sound reasoning and a collaborative approach. What we're looking for: You have a completed degree in Dutch law and a solid understanding of European legal and regulatory frameworks. You bring approximately 5-8 years of relevant legal experience, including experience working in-house. You have experience advising on regulatory compliance, ideally in a technology-driven, digital platform or marketplace environment. You're comfortable interpreting complex legislation and navigating grey areas and you understand how to balance legal risks with business objectives, even when the answer isn't immediately clear. You're proactive and naturally look ahead, identifying potential challenges and opportunities before they arise. You're a strong collaborator who enjoys working with a wide range of stakeholders, from Product and Engineering to commercial teams, leadership and external advisers. You can think strategically while staying close to the details, moving comfortably between long-term considerations and hands-on legal work. You're curious, open-minded and willing to challenge existing approaches when there's a better way forward. You are based in the Netherlands, have an EU passport, or have a partner / highly skilled migrant visa here. You're fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken. Experience with consumer protection, digital platforms, e-commerce, data protection or European technology regulation would be a strong plus. Familiarity with the live events or ticketing industry is welcome, but not essential. Above all, we're looking for someone with sound judgement, a collaborative mindset and the confidence to help the business make responsible decisions. Why you'll love it here At TicketSwap, you'll join an ambitious, international team that's passionate about making live experiences accessible to more people. We're building something that matters to millions of fans, and you'll have the opportunity to shape how we grow. Here's what you can expect: Real ownership and impact: Your advice will directly influence the products we build, the markets we operate in and the decisions we make. A seat at the table: You'll work closely with people across the business and contribute to important strategic discussions from an early stage. Ideas over hierarchy: We value thoughtful perspectives, constructive challenges and people who speak up when they see a better way. Strong people around you: You'll collaborate with talented, curious colleagues who take their work seriously, support each other and share successes. Room to shape what's next: As we continue to scale internationally, you'll have the opportunity to improve how we approach legal matters and help build sustainable ways of working. A culture of trust and accountability: We believe in giving people the freedom to take initiative, make decisions and learn along the way. We're not going to pretend that everything is already figured out. Working in a growing international marketplace means navigating ambiguity, changing priorities and complex challenges. But that's also what makes the work interesting, and why your contribution will matter. Practical details Location: Amsterdam, the Netherlands Work setup: Hybrid, with collaboration from our Amsterdam HQ Seniority: Senior, with flexibility for strong mid-level candidates Salary: The salary for this role is capped at €100,000,- gross per year incl holiday allowance, allowing room for further salary growth within the role's salary band Visa sponsorship and relocation support: No relocation support

Requires a completed degree in Dutch law, approximately 5–8 years of relevant legal experience including in-house experience, and fluency in Dutch and English.
