Job Description

FlowVolta is a cleantech start-up on a mission to accelerate the transition to a cleaner, more sustainable future by transforming the way electrochemical systems are designed and deployed. The company is developing E-QUB, a new generation of simplified, modular alkaline electrolyser systems designed to make green hydrogen production more affordable, flexible, reliable, and easier to deploy. FlowVolta’s showcase system at the Port of Rotterdam has demonstrated strong performance under dynamic, renewable-style power input, while its simplified architecture and reduced balance-of-plant requirements are designed to lower both capital and operating costs compared with conventional systems. FlowVolta is looking for a hands-on Business Developer who can turn an emerging electrolyser technology into credible customer opportunities, pilot partnerships and first commercial agreements. At this stage, the role requires someone comfortable building a market while the technology is still being developed. Role purpose Develop FlowVolta’s commercial pipeline, identify the most promising applications and secure launch customers. Work closely with the founders and technical team to connect customer requirements with product development and a realistic commercial proposition. Key responsibilities Secure launch customers: develop opportunities towards feasibility studies, pilot agreements, letters of intent and conditional purchase commitments. Define the initial market focus: identify and prioritize customer segments, applications and accounts based on customer need, technical fit and commercial potential. Build customer relationships: engage decision-makers, understand their operational requirements and establish what would motivate them to adopt FlowVolta’s technology. Develop the business case: translate technical advantages into customer value, including economics, integration requirements and expected performance. Manage the pipeline: maintain clear opportunity stages, next steps, decision criteria and realistic timelines. Desired background Experience in B2B business development involving complex technical products, preferably in hydrogen, industrial equipment, energy systems or related deep-tech sectors. Experience in developing credibility around a technology that is not yet a fully established commercial product. Experience in a startup or small, entrepreneurial organization is valuable. Fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage An existing relevant industry network would be a strong advantage. Your profile An entrepreneurial, curious and commercially sharp individual who: Takes initiative and works effectively without a large support organization. Listens carefully, asks incisive questions and identifies the customer’s actual buying criteria. Builds trust through realistic commitments and clear follow-up. Is comfortable with uncertainty, long sales cycles and evolving technical specifications. Collaborates closely with the founders and engineers and is willing to challenge assumptions constructively. How to apply Apply directly through LinkedIn. Please submit your CV and cover letter combined into a single file. If you have any questions about the position or application process, feel free to contact us at [email protected].

Core Responsibilities

Develop FlowVolta’s commercial pipeline by identifying priority markets and customers, building relationships with decision-makers, and securing launch-customer opportunities such as feasibility studies, pilots, letters of intent, and conditional purchase commitments. Translate the electrolyser’s technical capabilities into customer-specific business cases and coordinate with founders and engineers to align customer needs with product development and commercial plans.

Requirements

The role seeks experience in B2B business development for complex technical products, ideally in hydrogen, industrial equipment, energy systems, or related deep-tech sectors, including building credibility for emerging technology. Candidates should be entrepreneurial, commercially astute, comfortable with uncertainty and long sales cycles, and able to work independently and collaboratively; English fluency is required, while Dutch and an industry network are advantageous.

About FlowVolta

Industry: Climate Technology Product Manufacturing

Company size: 2-10 employees

FlowVolta is developing E-QUB, a new generation of simplified modular alkaline electrolyser systems designed to make green hydrogen production more affordable, flexible and easier to deploy. Our showcase system at the Port of Rotterdam has been tested under dynamic operation with variable renewable-style power input. The results show repeated on/off cycling, a 0–100% operating range, <5 s ramp up/down, and 42–47 kWh/kg H₂ active SEC at system level. By simplifying the electrolyser architecture and reducing unnecessary balance-of-plant components, E-QUB is designed to significantly reduce CAPEX and OPEX compared with conventional electrolyser systems. We are building electrolysis technology for a future where green hydrogen systems are simpler, more flexible and easier to scale.
