Senior Chemical Engineer
Key Skills
Job Description
ASMPT ALSI is looking for an experienced Senior Chemical Engineer that can contribute to the development of new chemical process steps to improve the performance of our Laser Dicing Machine. Laser dicing is a powerful and well accepted technique in the semiconductor industry when it comes to die singulation. To strengthen this position, the current laser dicing needs to be improved by means of chemical pre- and post-processes. A typical example of such a process is the development and improvement of protective coating which is applied prior to laser dicing. The Senior Chemical Engineer contributes to new ideas and developments and is responsible for planning and conducting experiments, as well as the evaluation and interpretation of the results. You will play a leading role in the innovation and development of new chemical technologies, particularly focusing on protective coatings and their applications for wafer dicing. Furthermore, the Chemical Engineer is responsible for deploying new concepts and improvements in the field and will act as expert third-line backup for field issues. The Chemical Engineer is functionally reporting to ASMPT ALSI’s Process Development Manager and is working in a team with specialists in different fields. Key Responsibilites: Design and conduct chemical experiments to drive innovation. Develop and improve polymer coatings for laser dicing and laser grooving. Identify and overcome challenges in existing processes. Define design of experiments and carry out experiments in the lab. Analyze experimental results and formulate technical and scientific reports to a high standard. Release coatings for our laser dicing and grooving machines. Investigate boundary conditions for large scale coating manufacturing to limit batch to batch variations to keep coating properties within specifications. Contribute to the development of hardware solutions for chemical projects, with a specific focus on coating processes. Communicate with external chemical experts and customers. Occasional travel (up to 10%) to regions such as Asia-Pacific and North America. THIS IS YOU Master’s degree or higher in chemistry or chemical engineering. At least 5 years of job experience. Expertise in polymer chemistry and testing. Collaborative, assertive, and capable of working effectively within a small team. Fluent in English, Dutch is a plus. Knowledge about laser processing is an advantage but not necessary. Experience in the front- and backend processing in the semiconductor industry is an advantage but not necessary. WE OFFER A full-time position (32 - 40 hours per week) at an international high-tech company, where innovation and manufacturing solutions are key. An attractive salary aligned with your knowledge, skills, and experience. Excellent employee benefits like travel allowance, a bicycle scheme and a premium pension scheme. Opportunities for personal and professional growth through training and development programs. A dynamic, collaborative work environment with enthusiastic colleagues of different nationalities and exciting, multidisciplinary projects. 25 vacation days and 3 additional days off.
