About The Team & The Role We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join Evondos’ R&D software team. You’ll work in an international Scrum team with colleagues in the Netherlands and Finland, building secure and scalable backend services for our medication management platform. This is a senior, hands-on role where you’ll write high-quality code, help shape technical decisions, and contribute to our move towards a modern cloud-native platform. What You'll Do Design, develop, and maintain backend services primarily using Kotlin and Python. Build scalable, secure, and highly available services that support critical healthcare operations. Drive improvements in architecture, performance, reliability, and observability across the platform. Contribute to the evolution of our service-oriented architecture and Kubernetes-based environments. Own the software you build throughout its lifecycle, from development and code review to production monitoring and continuous improvement. Collaborate closely with Product Owners, QA Engineers, DevOps specialists, and fellow developers, while mentoring colleagues and contributing to technical decisions. What You'll Bring 5+ years of professional software development experience. Strong backend development experience with Kotlin and/or Python. Experience designing and building distributed systems and service-oriented architectures. A strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices. Experience with cloud-native development, containerised applications, and modern deployment practices. A collaborative, hands-on approach to problem solving. Fluent English communication skills Bonus points if you have experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Spring Boot, event-driven architectures or messaging systems, regulated industries, or operating production systems with a “you build it, you run it” mindset. Practical Details 📍 Location: the role can be based either in the Netherlands (Zoetermeer) or in Finland (Helsinki area or Salo). Work model: Hybrid and flexible. In the Netherlands, the team regularly meet together at our Zoetermeer office. In Finland, the software team works primarily remotely, with occasional in-person collaboration at our Helsinki or Salo offices. Core Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable backend services for Evondos’ medication management platform, primarily using Kotlin and Python. Improve architecture, performance, reliability, and observability; own services through production operation; and collaborate with and mentor colleagues across the international team.

Requirements

Applicants should have at least five years of professional software development experience, strong backend development experience with Kotlin and/or Python, and experience building distributed systems and service-oriented architectures. They should understand software architecture and engineering best practices, have experience with cloud-native development and containerized applications, work collaboratively, and communicate fluently in English.
