Job Description

Join our global team supporting the applications that enable innovation across Nouryon. In this role, you will combine functional and technical application management with continuous improvement, working closely with users, key stakeholders, and vendors to keep business-critical R&D applications running smoothly. At Nouryon, our global team takes positive action every day, to reach higher collectively and individually. We create innovative and sustainable solutions for our customers to answer society’s needs – today and in the future. We are looking for team members who bring ideas forward, champion others and work together to do better. Does that sound like you? About the job Provide functional and technical application management for the core applications in the Science, Safety & Engineering domain, helping to support business continuity, IT professionalism, and user and business satisfaction. Your initial focus will be on the R&D applications used in Nouryon’s Innovation Laboratories worldwide. In this role, you will help keep these critical systems running smoothly, safeguard the integrity of the production environment, and ensure applications are maintained in line with SLA agreements and the regional business needs of the involved Business Unit(s). You will act as the first point of escalation for Application Maintenance-related services, working closely with both third-party vendors and the user community. In addition, you will support the strategic change agenda by enhancing and supporting the core applications delivered to the business. As a key member of the Science, Safety & Engineering Digital Product team, you will contribute to the ongoing support, maintenance, and evolution of applications that are essential to the business. In your future role as Application Manager R&D you will • Ensure effective Incident Management by keeping systems running through a controlled process of registering, monitoring, and resolving application-related tickets. • Monitor overall application performance and take responsibility for the integrity of the production environment. • Operationalize priority setting as agreed with the business. • Signal deviations from policy and standard package matters and, following approval, contribute to the implementation of changes. • Ensure IM process compliance within your area of responsibility. • Take care of proper application documentation, including technical, process, and end-user documentation. • Be co-responsible for activities that ensure applications function and operate appropriately. • Participate in and contribute to implementation, improvement, and optimization projects. In addition, you will execute changes and enhancements end-to-end: from describing the problem and performing information analysis to preparing solutions, executing system changes, testing, updating user documentation, implementing changes, and providing aftercare. You will conduct tests, record and analyse failures, perform fault diagnosis, and create and validate transports from development and UAT environments to production. You will analyse and support key-user training needs, create and maintain training materials, and maintain frequent contact with key users regarding Digital Product developments. Periodic visits to the labs will allow you to review issues, support the onboarding of new laboratory applications, and strengthen collaboration with the user community. Working closely with the team, you will contribute to the successful execution of changes and enhancements across the application landscape. We believe you bring • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. Alternatively you have a degree in Chemistry or a related field combined with experience in application management. • Experience working with business applications, preferably LIMS or other technical applications, and a strong knowledge of the Microsoft environment. • Familiarity with IT standards and frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, and CMM. • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment. • Certification/ experience in system maintenance, configuration, or customizing. In addition, you are knowledgeable about business processes related to standard software packages and specific developments. You build strong relationships with stakeholders and have a broad understanding of Digital Technology / IT and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You communicate effectively in English. Knowledge of Dutch is considered an advantage. We believe you are... • A strong business partner with a customer-focused mindset and a sense of ownership. • A critical and analytical thinker who takes a systems-based approach to understanding challenges and identifying effective solutions. • Skilled at analyzing business and technology requirements and translating them into practical outcomes. • Committed to quality and continuous improvement in the way applications and processes are supported and managed. • Proactive and collaborative, with the ability to build strong relationships and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. In addition, you have strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. You are adaptable, technically proficient, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment.
