AVS Bio Netherlands is an experienced service provider in protein production and antibody discovery and development, specialized in generating and producing antibodies against diverse and challenging antigens for R&D, diagnostic, and therapeutic applications. Opportunity: Junior Technician Location: Utrecht Science Park Your role As a Junior Technician, you will be part of a multidisciplinary laboratory team at our Utrecht site. In this role, you will contribute to projects in protein production and purification, including molecular biology and cell culture while developing a broad set of technical skills across these disciplines. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop hands-on experience covering the entire protein production process, rather than specializing in a single area from day one. We are looking for a motivated laboratory professional with a solid scientific foundation and a genuine interest in biotechnology. You may be at the start of your career, but you bring the curiosity, accuracy and drive needed to succeed in a dynamic laboratory environment. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will gradually expand your expertise and take on increasing responsibility within our laboratory processes. You will actively contribute to delivering reliable, high-quality results for our clients and support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Core Responsibilities

Purify recombinant proteins, clone synthetic genes, perform molecular biology techniques, and culture and transfect HEK293 or CHO cell lines. Record experimental data in LIMS, perform general laboratory tasks, and support process improvements.

Requirements

Applicants need a relevant MBO level 4 or HBO qualification, a solid foundation in laboratory techniques, and a strong interest in biotechnology. Experience in protein purification, molecular biology, or cell culture is preferred; motivation to learn, accuracy, a quality-focused approach, collaboration, and proficiency in Dutch and English are also expected.
