Job Description

Location: The Netherlands (remote, with Amsterdam as the organisational base) Job Type: Full-time, permanent Reports to: PSI Europe's Board of Director Salary: The salary range for this position is €100,000–€119,000 gross per year, including holiday allowance, with a competitive benefits package in accordance with the applicable Dutch nonprofit executive remuneration framework. The final offer will reflect the candidate's experience, qualifications and responsibilities. Application Deadline: 22 November 2026 About PSI Europe PSI Europe is an independently governed Dutch foundation and an integral member of the PSI network, working to strengthen health systems and expand access to person-centred health, with a particular focus on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), menstrual health and dignity, and underserved women's health. Working closely with PSI network members, governments and partners, PSI Europe combines programme leadership and oversight with European donor engagement, advocacy, technical expertise and strategic partnerships. Its role is both European and global: connecting European financing, policy and partnerships with the expertise, reach and experience of PSI and its partners around the world. PSI Europe is entering a new phase of its development. Its programme portfolio and team have grown substantially, its organisational capabilities are being strengthened, and its role within an evolving global PSI network continues to develop. Role Overview The Managing Director provides overall strategic and executive leadership to PSI Europe, working closely with the Board, the Senior Management Team, programme leadership and colleagues across the wider PSI network. This is not simply a role managing an established portfolio. We are looking for a leader who can see the connections between programmes, policy, partnerships and financing; translate complexity into direction; and position PSI Europe for relevance and impact in a rapidly changing global health and development landscape. Key Responsibilities Strategy and direction: Lead PSI Europe's strategy and guide the organisation through its next phase of impact, development and sustainable growth, expanding where its European position and capabilities add distinctive value. Leadership and team: Lead, inspire and develop a highly skilled international team, fostering a culture of trust, accountability, collaboration and inclusion. Further shape and strengthen PSI Europe's leadership structure, including appointing a new Senior Director. Programme impact and stewardship: Maintain executive oversight of PSI Europe's programme portfolio, ensuring strategic alignment, high-quality delivery and accountability to donors and partners. Work in close partnership with the Director of Finance to safeguard PSI Europe's financial sustainability and organisational resilience. Resource mobilisation: Lead PSI Europe's resource mobilisation and donor diversification, building senior relationships across government, philanthropy, development finance, the private sector and other strategic partners. Advocacy and influence: Position PSI Europe as a trusted and influential European partner in global health, SRHR and women's health, leading its advocacy and policy work and retaining and building its European advocacy networks and credibility. Governance and the PSI network: Work in close partnership with the Chair and Board, giving them clear visibility of performance, financial sustainability, opportunities and risks. Steward PSI Europe's relationship with PSI and the wider PSI network, building trust, transparency and alignment. Qualifications We are interested in the quality and breadth of your leadership, not whether your career has followed one particular route. You will bring many of the following: Significant (7-15 years) leadership experience in an international, mission-driven environment, ideally in a similar role. A strong network across European philanthropy, foundations, governments, development finance institutions and/or the private sector. A strong understanding of the European funding landscape, including institutional and philanthropic donors, and the trends reshaping international development financing. Demonstrated ability to identify and develop strategic partnerships and mobilise resources. Experience working effectively with Boards and governance structures. Experience leading, empowering and developing talented people across cultures, disciplines and geographies. Demonstrated ability to lead effectively within networked or partnership-based structures, balancing institutional autonomy with shared strategy, capabilities and interests. Knowledge of global health and international development. A strong understanding of sexual and reproductive health and rights and women's health would be an asset. Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in Dutch and/or another language relevant to PSI's global network, particularly French, Spanish or Arabic, would be an asset. Candidates must have the right to live and work in the Netherlands; visa sponsorship is not available. Non-EU citizens with active highly-skilled visas from other EU countries and European blue card holders will be considered. Why Join? This role is offered at a point when PSI Europe's direction is still being set. Its programme portfolio and team have grown substantially, and how the organisation develops from here will be shaped by its next Managing Director. A mission that matters now: PSI Europe's work centres on sexual and reproductive health and rights, menstrual health and dignity, and women's health, at a time when the need to protect and advance them has rarely been greater. European and global reach: The role connects European financing, policy and partnerships with the expertise, country presence and experience of the PSI network. A strong team to build on: Experienced programme leadership and an established Director of Finance are already in place, and the leadership team will be strengthened further through the appointment of a new Senior Director. Room to shape what comes next: PSI Europe's next chapter is not entirely written yet, and the Managing Director will have meaningful scope to write it. How to Apply Please apply for this position by submitting your CV in Word format and in English to [email protected] and a brief (300 words or less) statement of interest outlining how your background fits the role and the profile we are looking for. Cattan Dorn Consulting is supporting Stichting PSI Europe in this search. Interested candidates should contact Frederique Cattan Dorn at [email protected] for additional information. Application deadline is 22 November 2026. PSI is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to providing an inclusive and respectful workplace. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates and make employment decisions without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment process. Candidates requiring accommodations are encouraged to contact our recruitment team.

Core Responsibilities

Lead PSI Europe's strategy, team, programme portfolio, resource mobilization, advocacy, and policy work while strengthening its impact and sustainable growth. Partner with the Board, finance leadership, and the wider PSI network to support financial resilience, effective governance, and strategic alignment.

Requirements

Candidates should bring substantial leadership experience in an international, mission-driven organization, strong European donor and partnership networks, and experience in resource mobilization, governance, and leading multicultural teams. Knowledge of global health and international development is expected; English fluency and the right to live and work in the Netherlands are required, while Dutch or another relevant network language and SRHR or women's health expertise are assets.
