Job Description

Company Overview

Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for digital innovation and transformation. Our portfolio includes product lifecycle management, electronic design automation, low-code application development, and enterprise software solutions that help companies accelerate innovation and create lasting value. At Mendix, we empower organizations to build, deploy, and govern modern applications using our low-code platform. With the resources of a large company and the innovation of a software leader, we create solutions that enable our customers to achieve more.

Position Overview

Join the Cloud Unit within Mendix R&D, helping customers deploy, operate, and govern applications and platform environments. We make complex cloud capabilities, administration, and integrations easier to use. You'll help shape a new agentic platform, working with product managers, technical leads, and developers to frame problems, validate ideas, and deliver well-crafted experiences, including interactions between people and AI agents. AI is central to what we build and how we work. We value strong UX and UI craft through clear thinking, communication, rapid prototyping, and attention to the implemented experience, not just polished design files.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with product and technical teams to discover and frame problems, challenge assumptions, and explore opportunities.
  • Create concepts and functional prototypes using AI-assisted coding tools to explore behaviours, test assumptions, and support product decisions.
  • Conduct concept-validation sessions and usability tests with Research Ops support. Test user understanding, task success, and recovery when things go wrong, and use findings to improve designs.
  • Deliver detailed UI and interaction designs, including how people guide, review, and correct AI agents. Apply existing design-system patterns and contribute improvements where needed.
  • Work closely with developers through implementation and conduct design QA to improve usability and experience quality.
  • Communicate decisions clearly, share work in progress, and own defined problems with guidance while collaborating on more complex challenges.

Qualifications:
  • Around 2–5 years of relevant product design experience and a design degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong UX, interaction, and UI design skills, with experience using design systems.
  • Hands-on experience using AI in research and design workflows and building functional prototypes with AI-assisted coding tools.
  • Experience validating concepts, testing usability, and collaborating with product managers and developers.
  • Initiative, comfort with ambiguity, and willingness to challenge assumptions and learn from feedback.
  • Clear written and spoken English, with the ability to articulate ideas and explain design decisions.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience designing AI-powered or human–agent experiences.
  • Experience with B2B SaaS, enterprise software, cloud platforms, deployment, operations, or governance.

Please contact us to request accommodation.

How We Work

You'll join a design team working across multiple product and development teams. We use Figma and AI-assisted tools, but specific tools are not a checklist. Functional prototyping is expected; production coding is not. Hybrid arrangements are agreed within the team.

Your Portfolio

Show how you think, collaborate, and learn, from problem framing to testing and delivery. Include work-in-progress artefacts, prototypes, and how findings changed your designs. Explain your contribution, trade-offs, and outcomes where available. We value an honest view of your process over a polished sales presentation.

About Mendix

Industry: Software Development

Company size: 1,001-5,000 employees

The future of work demands smarter applications. Mendix is where you build, deploy, and orchestrate the intelligent solutions the human-AI workforce relies on—with built-in shared context and governance that connects everything perfectly. Create production-ready agentic applications and AI agents that understand your business inside and out. They're built on your data, follow your logic, and fit seamlessly into your existing architecture. Connect agents across all your business systems, then orchestrate workflows where AI handles the routine and humans step in exactly when they're needed; with full context already in hand. The difference is simple: most enterprise AI projects stall out because companies treat governance, integration, and trust as afterthoughts. We flip that script. With Mendix, every agent decision, human approval, and AI output is automatically traceable and compliant from the start. That's what separates AI experiments from AI that actually runs your business. Whether you're launching your first intelligent application or scaling an organization-wide portfolio, leading companies worldwide trust Mendix to bridge the gap between human expertise and AI capabilities—creating workforces that don't just use technology, they orchestrate it. Ready to build intelligent applications that work the way you do? Mendix is a Siemens business.
