Job Description

Compensation: Unpaid internship, with potential opportunities for a future full-time position The Role We are looking for a CAD Engineering Intern who wants to work on real designs, real assemblies, and real physical systems. You will support the design and engineering of mechanical systems used across our portfolio companies, including 3D models, technical drawings, prototypes, and manufacturing documentation. This is not an internship built around theoretical exercises. You will contribute directly to designs that become physical products and operational systems. Depending on the project, you may help take a design from an initial concept through modeling, prototyping, testing, and production documentation. What You Could Be Building Your work may include: Creating 3D models and assemblies in CAD software Producing detailed technical drawings and manufacturing documentation Supporting design reviews, prototyping, and design validation Working on mechanical and structural design for energy and bioproduction systems Maintaining CAD libraries, design standards, and version control Collaborating with engineers on system integration and assembly The Companies You May Support Our wider group has spent more than 30 years building and operating companies internationally, with experience across New York, London, Tokyo, and Bali. Today, our teams work from a 4,000 sqm campus in Canggu across energy, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, engineering, and software. Projects across the group include: Zero-X — Developing thermochemical conversion and distributed energy systems, with more than 200 installations operating across 11 countries. SERAPH — Developing decentralized bioproduction systems combining AI, robotics, and synthetic biology. Gemino AI — Building AI technology for industrial control and autonomous operations, including the OptiVX platform and Project Maya wearable AI system. CAD and mechanical engineering play an essential role across these companies, from reactor design and system assembly to enclosure engineering and prototyping. What We're Looking For You may be a good fit if you: Are currently studying or have recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field Have practical CAD experience through university projects, internships, or previous employment Have experience with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, CATIA, or similar Understand mechanical design principles, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes Can join us fully on-site in Bali for approximately 4–6 months You do not need experience with every CAD package or manufacturing method we use. We are more interested in strong design fundamentals, practical experience, curiosity, and your ability to learn and build. This internship can also be completed as part of a university internship or placement requirement. Internship Setup 4–6 months based in Canggu, Bali Fully on-site position Monday to Friday Working hours: 11:00 AM–5:00 PM, including a 1-hour lunch break Approximately 25 working hours per week Daily lunch provided On-campus accommodation available at competitive rates Strong performers may be considered for future full-time opportunities across the group Important Information This is an unpaid internship. You must be available to work from our Bali campus for the duration of the placement. This position is not available remotely or in a hybrid format. How to Apply When applying, show us something you have actually designed. This could be: a CAD model or assembly, a set of technical drawings, a prototype you built, another piece of design work that demonstrates how you approach engineering problems. We care less about whether the project is large and more about whether you can explain what you designed, why you made the choices you did, and how it works.

Core Responsibilities

Create CAD models, assemblies, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation for mechanical and structural systems. Support design reviews, prototyping, validation, system integration, and the maintenance of CAD libraries and design standards.

Requirements

Applicants should be studying or have recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field, and have practical CAD experience. They should understand mechanical design, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes, and be available to work on-site in Bali for approximately 4–6 months.

Benefits

  • Daily Lunch
  • On-Campus Accommodation Available At Competitive Rates
