Job Description
Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It
Good data makes great things happen. And at The Social Hub, we're building the data foundations to make our next big moves in analytics, automation and AI possible. As our Data Engineer, you'll bring together data from across our hotels, guest experiences, memberships and business operations, turning scattered information into something reliable, useful and ready to make an impact. Working with Microsoft Fabric, PySpark and Azure, you'll build the pipelines and data models that power smarter decisions across the business. You'll join our Data Strategy & AI team, working closely with data analysts, data scientists and AI engineers to turn ambitious ideas into working solutions. There's plenty to build, improve and figure out along the way, so if you like solving tricky problems and making things work better, we'd love to meet you.
In Case You Don’t Know Who We Are
Known for being the rule breakers in hospitality, TSH is a fun, creative and inspiring environment where everyone can work, stay, learn and play and most importantly – be themselves. As an employer we look, act and think like a hotel, but instead we offer a lot more. Think student accommodation, long and short stay options, gyms, talks, events, rooftop bar and eat & drink escapes as well as community and coworking spaces. Located in The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, and the UK, with several new openings on the way, this hybrid hospitality concept may take root in the heart of Europe, but our plans are set for going global.
What You’ll Do
- Build and maintain data pipelines that bring information from our hotels, CRM, finance, feedback tools and other systems into Microsoft Fabric.
- Transform and clean large datasets using PySpark, Python and SQL, making data reliable and easy to work with.
- Create well-structured data models that power business reporting and analytics.
- Connect new data sources through APIs, cloud storage and Azure services.
- Manage development across Dev, Test and Production environments using Git and Azure DevOps.
- Set up monitoring and alerts to spot pipeline failures and data quality issues before they become bigger problems.
- Work with analysts and AI teams to make curated data available through Power BI and Fabric Apps.
- Troubleshoot production issues, document your work and keep improving how we build and manage data pipelines.
What You’ll Have
- You have at least 4 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering or a related data platform role.
- You bring strong hands-on skills in SQL and Python, plus experience with PySpark and Delta Lake or similar technologies.
- You have experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or another Spark-based cloud data platform.
- You understand lakehouse architecture, bronze/silver/gold data layers, data modelling and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- You have experience with APIs, Git-based workflows and CI/CD, ideally within Azure DevOps.
- You can work independently, solve technical problems and explain complex topics clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- You bring an ownership mindset, an interest in AI and automation, and a good understanding of data privacy and GDPR. Experience with Power BI, customer data deduplication or hospitality is a plus.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to work at a dynamic, multi-national company. Not just another hotel - we’re a game changing innovator, challenging every convention and defining the future
- The opportunity to work for a Certified B Corp® company that balances profit with positive impact, collaborating with organizations like Movement on the Ground and the TSH Talent Foundation to create meaningful change
- The chance to learn and grow in your role with the potential for future growth
- Awesome discounts in all our properties in Europe and not just for you, but also for your friends and family!
- A wonderful workplace to call home, full of events, fun colleagues and all the other amazing salary/benefits stuff
At The Social Hub, we believe pay should be fair and consistent. That's why we carefully determine your starting salary based on the role, your assessed proficiency, and our salary framework. We make our best and fairest offer upfront, so we don't negotiate salaries. Because fairness shouldn’t depend on who negotiates best.
Who you are, is how we want you to be. To us, hybrid hospitality goes across the board, from how we service our guests to how we represent ourselves. Here, everyone belongs, and we welcome people no matter their nationality, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion or culture. Your authenticity keeps our team diverse. Come as you are.
Core Responsibilities
Build and maintain robust data pipelines to integrate information from various business systems into Microsoft Fabric. Collaborate with data analysts and AI teams to create reliable data models and provide actionable insights through Power BI.
Requirements
Requires at least 4 years of experience in data engineering with strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and Spark-based cloud platforms. Candidates must have experience with lakehouse architecture, CI/CD workflows, and a solid understanding of data privacy standards.
Benefits
- Discounts in all properties in Europe
- Professional growth opportunities
- Certified B Corp environment
- Collaborative and inclusive workplace
