Job Description

For our Advanced Packaging team, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer. In this role, you will work on something that does not yet exist: a completely new platform within our latest generation of Advanced Packaging machines. This is no development on an existing machine, but true pioneering. If you are passionate about turning complex mechanical concepts into reality and eager to make an impact, this position offers the perfect opportunity to apply your skills. You will work within a growing team where you can truly make impact. You will have the freedom to introduce and develop your own ideas, with ample opportunity for feedback and refinement from our team. You will work closely with our colleagues in Singapore and Hong Kong, as well as with external development partners in the Netherlands. Together we form the driving force behind machines that are deployed worldwide in high-tech industries. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical concepts, modules, and components for high-precision systems, from initial concept through detailed design and release. All design work is done in NX and managed in Teamcenter. Translate functional and system requirements into robust mechanical designs, ensuring performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Perform tolerance analyses and detailed dimensioning, taking into account precision, thermal behaviour, and assembly constraints. Conduct mechanical analyses and simulations (e.g. FEM, stiffness, deformation, eigenfrequencies, thermal effects) to validate design performance. Collaborate closely with system engineers, mechatronics engineers, suppliers, and international teams (including Singapore and Hong Kong) to ensure alignment with system-level performance. Contribute to the definition and realization of mechanical subsystem concepts, including prototype design and implementation. Support integration and testing of prototypes and modules, perform root cause analysis, and implement design improvements. Participate in design reviews and technical discussions, ensuring compliance with performance, quality, safety, and cleanroom (e.g. ISO 3) requirements. Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability and assembly (DfM/DfA) and support industrialization. Maintain structured technical documentation (drawings, specifications, change management) and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation, including support in patentable concepts where relevant. THIS IS YOU Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Design; a PhD or PDEng in Mechanics is a plus. 5+ years of industry experience in high-tech machine development, ideally in the semiconductor industry. Proven expertise in developing and realizing mechanical concepts, ideally in the semiconductor industry. A multidisciplinary thinker with an open-minded approach, strong in communication and collaboration across various technical domains. A proactive mindset in overcoming challenges on conflicting demands of machine accuracy and machine throughput. Fluent in English; speaking Dutch is a plus. WE OFFER A full-time position (32 - 40 hours per week) at an international high-tech company, where innovation and manufacturing solutions are key. A competitive salary, depending on your knowledge and experience. Excellent employee benefits including a premium pension scheme, travel allowance, and more. Opportunities for personal and professional growth through training and development programs. A dynamic, collaborative work environment with friendly colleagues and exciting, multidisciplinary projects. 25 vacation days and 3 additional days off. We provide all the necessary hardware and software, including a laptop and phone, to ensure you have everything you need to succeed. We like to think that we are fun to work with. Besides working together, we enjoy different activities with our team on a regular basis. Enabling the Digital World At ASMPT, we are committed to making the world a better, safer, and more sustainable place through innovation in the high-tech industry. Our mission is enabling the digital world: empowering our customers to shape tomorrow’s technology with advanced, integrated hardware and software solutions.

Core Responsibilities

Design and develop mechanical concepts, modules, and components for high-precision packaging systems, from initial concept through detailed design, analysis, and release. Collaborate with engineering teams, suppliers, and manufacturing to prototype, integrate, test, troubleshoot, and industrialize designs while meeting performance, quality, safety, and cleanroom requirements.

Requirements

A bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Design is required; a PhD or PDEng in Mechanics is a plus. Candidates should have at least five years of high-tech machine development experience, ideally in semiconductors, proven mechanical concept development expertise, strong multidisciplinary communication and collaboration skills, and fluent English; Dutch is a plus.
