About The Role As a Data Engineer at Zonneplan, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the data infrastructure that underpins our entire organization. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and enhance our central data platform, ensuring that data is securely accessible to all teams and serves as the foundation for our new machine learning platform. You will build reliable data pipelines, maintain high data quality standards, and create self-service solutions that empower colleagues to work independently with data. Your work will directly impact operational efficiency by accelerating data requests and enabling teams to make faster, data-driven decisions. Working within the Infra Team, you will collaborate daily with engineering, Trading & Optimization, GenAI, and other development teams. Your tasks may include translating recurring data requests into sustainable self-service solutions or securely providing datasets that enable the GenAI team to build dashboards independently. We actively encourage the use of AI tools, such as Claude Code Max 20x-licence, to enhance productivity and innovation. Your contributions will support Zonneplan's broader goal of becoming a data-driven and AI-driven organization, ultimately driving smarter energy systems and more effective decision-making processes. Qualifications Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience as a Data Engineer Proficiency in SQL and experience with data modeling Experience in building and managing reliable data pipelines Strong understanding of data quality, reliability, and security principles Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders Collaborative mindset with experience working across teams to translate needs into solutions Daily use of AI tools to enhance work processes Familiarity with tools such as Dagster, Snowflake, Postgres, Kafka, dbt, dlthub, Airbyte, Kubernetes, or AWS is advantageous Experience with data mesh or self-service analytics is a plus Proficiency in Dutch language is required Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and optimize the central data platform to support organizational needs Create and monitor reliable data pipelines ensuring high data quality and security Translate recurring data requests into scalable self-service solutions for teams Securely manage and provide access to datasets for internal teams and external partners Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate solutions Implement best practices for data security, privacy, and compliance Leverage AI tools to automate and improve data engineering tasks Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions Support the organization’s transition towards a data-driven and AI-driven culture Benefits Competitive gross monthly salary ranging from €3,500 to €5,000, depending on experience and skills 25 vacation days, with options to purchase additional days Reiskostenvergoeding (travel allowance) Personalized keuzebudget for sports, groceries, or other personal needs Access to the Zonneplan Academie for continuous learning and professional development State-of-the-art tooling, including a Claude Code Max 20x-licence Opportunities for career growth from medior to senior Data Engineer and eventually to Tech Lead Data Dynamic work environment with close collaboration among engineers, data specialists, and product teams Impactful work contributing to a sustainable energy future Equal Opportunity Zonneplan is an equal opportunity employer. Requirements

Requires 1–2 years of data engineering experience, proficiency in SQL and data modeling, and experience building and managing reliable data pipelines. Candidates should understand data quality, reliability, and security, communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, collaborate across teams, use AI tools daily, and be proficient in Dutch; familiarity with the listed data and infrastructure tools is advantageous.
