Business Development Manager – Europe
Key Skills
Job Description
Business Development Manager – Europe (NL / DE / FR) Full-time · Remote, based in the Netherlands (preferred) or Western Europe ABOUT THE COMPANY BioScout is an AgTech company on a mission to enable the early detection and effective management of airborne diseases on farms worldwide. BioScout automates crop disease and particulate detection through sophisticated, patent-protected biological sensor technology. We provide farmers with real-time, field-based airborne disease data. This data enables them to map, prevent, and manage disease outbreaks on farms, massively improving crop yields and quality while reducing their chemical usage and spending. We are a team of passionate scientists, agronomists, and engineers who want to revolutionise airborne disease management and prevent crop loss. Our world-first technology positively impacts food systems, the environment, and farmers' bottom lines. If the idea of selling something that genuinely changes how farmers protect their crops captures your interest, this is the role for you. YOUR MISSION We are entering our most ambitious growth phase yet, and expanding our European footprint is at the heart of it. Building on strong traction in ANZ and expanding global pilots, we are now scaling across Europe, with a focus on the Netherlands, Germany, and France. With product-market fit established, strong customer retention, and a live pipeline of qualified opportunities across the region, it's time to put fuel on the fire. As our Business Development Manager for Europe, your job is to scale what's already working. You'll own the full sales cycle across the region, from building targeted prospect lists and picking up the phone, to running discovery conversations, building business cases, and closing deals. You'll report to our Chief Revenue Officer, who will pass warm leads from international events and relationships directly to you. You'll also partner with our incoming marketing hire, who is building the events strategy, enablement materials, and outbound campaigns to support your motion. This is a role for someone who has built a region before and knows what it takes. You'll be trusted to run it your way. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Build and manage targeted prospect lists across the Netherlands, Germany, and France, focusing on commercial growers, greenhouse and controlled environment agriculture (CEA) operators, and major agribusinesses across BioScout's key crop verticals (horticulture, potatoes, onions, vineyards, and arable crops) • Lead targeted, research-led outbound prospecting through cold calling, LinkedIn, and email • Run the full sales cycle: qualify leads, conduct discovery, present the business case, navigate buying committees, and close • Attend European industry events, trade shows, field demonstrations, and open days across NL, DE, and FR • Conduct strategic on-farm visits to build relationships and deepen conversations with key prospects and customers • Maintain disciplined CRM records and accurate pipeline reporting • Partner with the marketing team to share field feedback on messaging, buyer language, and what is resonating • Represent BioScout confidently with owner-operators and C-suite decision-makers ABOUT YOU You're a natural at opening doors. Cold calling doesn't faze you; if anything, you'd rather start a conversation than wait for one to come to you. You can tell the difference between a deal that's real and one that's noise, and you spend your time accordingly. You're patient enough to manage a long sales cycle with discipline, and organised enough to keep a large, active pipeline moving without losing sight of where each deal stands. You know how to earn trust in the field. Agriculture is a relationship industry and farmers read people quickly. You don't need to have spent your career in AgTech, but you need to be the kind of person who can sit on a farm, speak plainly, ask the right questions, and make someone feel genuinely understood. You're honest and direct. You don't oversell and you don't make promises you can't keep. You've carried a number before and you know what it takes to hit it without being managed closely. You've worked in a fast-moving environment and you understand what that means in practice: systems aren't always built, priorities shift, and no one's handing you a playbook. You build what you need and keep moving. You take ownership of outcomes, including the ones that don't go to plan. YOUR EXPERIENCE Required • A strong track record across the full B2B sales cycle, with real depth in outbound-led pipeline generation • Background in agriculture, agribusiness, capital equipment or hardware sales, or a related field where buying cycles are long and buyers are business owners (e.g. environmental technology, life sciences, industrial risk management) • Experience selling to owner-operators and C-suite decision-makers, including CFOs • Comfortable owning sales cycles of 3 to 6 months and the deal management discipline they require • Willing and able to travel across agricultural regions in Europe (NL, DE, FR), approximately one week per month • Based in the Netherlands (preferred) or Western Europe with easy access to a major airport hub • Full legal right to work in the EU / Netherlands without requiring sponsorship • Professional fluency in English Preferred • A personal or professional connection to agriculture or the land • Experience selling hardware-plus-software, IoT, or precision agriculture solutions (rather than pure SaaS), ideally into European farming or CEA markets • Science or technology literacy: able to hold a credible conversation about data, disease, and crop protection without needing to be an expert • Fluency in Dutch, German, or French is a strong advantage REMUNERATION AND PERKS • Competitive base salary plus an uncapped commission structure, focused on new business and designed to reward strong performers well beyond base • Employee Share Option Plan (ESOP): you'll own a stake in what you're building • All travel expenses fully covered • Remote working in the Netherlands / Western Europe • A diverse, mission-driven team that cares deeply about what it's building and the people it's building it with • Regular team events and a genuinely collaborative culture HOW TO APPLY Apply via LinkedIn with your CV and a short note on a region or territory you've built. Applications are reviewed as they arrive, so we encourage you to apply early.
