It’s pretty hard to get stressed in Amsterdam, but having a good time is easy. Generator Amsterdam is located in the up-and-coming eastern side of the city overlooking Oosterpark. This former zoological university building can accommodate 564 guests in 168 twin and quadruple rooms with incredible views on the surrounding and en-suite bathrooms. There is also one luxury apartment for six people with views of the park and a self-catered kitchen. It has flexible and spacious social areas, filled with creative design touches like glass-fronted elevators, a raised café and an outdoor terrace. We’ve turned the former lecture hall into an impressive chill-out lounge and bar, while the old library is now a relaxation and private events room. The basement and café are now dining destinations and the original boiler room has become a secret late-night bar. What You’ll Do Provide assistance to the Head Chef/Sous Chef to help ensure the smooth running of foodservice operations Create high quality food to meet guest expectations and to maintain company standards Anticipate guests’ needs and provide service to the level they require Prepare, cook and present dishes within your speciality Manage and train any commis working with you Monitor portion and waste control to maintain profit margins Give input to the Head Chef on menu creativity with the courage to try something different and deliver innovative, locally inspired food & beverage offerings appropriate to the guest community Keep up to date with local food trends Carry out all preparatory tasks ensuring good quality produce at all times Constantly improve product knowledge to maximize revenue and service provided Know all statutory legislation and ensure H&S and Fire Safety compliance Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety Naturally this is not intended as an exhaustive list of duties. Core Responsibilities

Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in running foodservice operations, preparing and presenting high-quality dishes, and delivering attentive guest service. Train commis staff, manage portions and waste, contribute creative menu ideas, and maintain food hygiene and safety standards.

Requirements

Candidates should have experience in a similar food-industry role, enthusiasm for food and service, and an interest in local and emerging food concepts. They should be creative, commercially minded, calm under pressure, strong communicators, familiar with stock control, available as needed, and eligible to work in the EU.
