Freelance Back End / Typescript Developer
Key Skills
Job Description
At Schuberg Philis, we build mission-critical IT solutions that power some of the most essential operations of our clients. Reliability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a Senior Freelance TypeScript Software Engineer who enjoys designing and building resilient, high-performance systems that have a direct impact on large-scale operational processes.
As part of our team, you will help shape the future of critical digital infrastructures, working on complex challenges where software quality, scalability, and reliability truly matter.
We are looking for a Senior Freelance Software Engineer with an open mind and a genuine passion for software architecture. Together with our customers, we solve a wide range of challenges, from creating more user-friendly online banking platforms and designing business-critical portals and backend systems, to making industrial environments smarter through the combination of cloud technologies and IoT.
For this specific project, you will work closely with developers and architects to design and build software that connects operator- and customer-facing hardware with a large-scale backend platform supporting parcel logistics operations across an international network of hubs. The platform powers critical parcel handling processes throughout Europe and beyond, serving as a key component in the global logistics chain.
The platform enables parcel intake, sorting, routing, and grouping processes across distribution hubs. It actively interacts with parcels in real time, processing events generated by scanners, handheld devices, and automated sorting systems. Every parcel moving through the network is represented and tracked by the platform, making it one of the most visible and operationally critical systems within the organization.
For this assignment, we are specifically looking for freelance professionals. We offer an initial 6-month contract with the possibility of extension, providing the opportunity to contribute to the continued evolution of a mission-critical platform operating at international scale.
Our ideal colleague brings:
- 5-7+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong experience designing and building microservices and event-driven architectures in cloud environments
- Proven experience developing backend solutions with TypeScript and Node.js
- Hands-on experience building serverless applications on AWS, particularly with services such as AWS Lambda and DynamoDB
- The ability to write high-quality, maintainable, reusable, and well-tested code
- Experience working with large-scale distributed systems processing high volumes of real-time operational events
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, such as GitHub Actions, and modern cloud-native development practices
- Experience integrating services and APIs within complex enterprise environments
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work closely with engineers and architects to design reliable and scalable solutions
- A security-first mindset; practical security experience is a plus
