Job Description
We’re dedicated to expediting the energy transition with sustainable home energy solutions accessible to all, aiming to assist 3 million households in making the transition by 2030. That’s why we're looking for a highly motivated and ambitious individual who's ready to roll up their sleeves and make a tangible impact on the climate change challenge we're tackling head-on. Are you ready to rise to the challenge?
As a Systems & Control Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing models and algorithms for the purpose of estimating, monitoring, and controlling the ecosystem of home energy products and services. Your control software runs in tens of thousands of Dutch homes every second. Now we're building the smartest heat pump ecosystem in the Netherlands on top of it: models and numerical optimization that shift heat to cheap hours and squeeze out every euro of savings, without the customer ever noticing.
In this role, you will be responsible for enabling the development of prototypes and new products through data-driven and model-based control methodologies. Your control software runs in tens of thousands of Dutch homes, every second. Now we're building the smartest heat pump ecosystem in the Netherlands on top of it: models and numerical optimization that shift heat to cheap hours and squeeze out every euro of savings, without the customer ever noticing.
🌱 What you'll be doing:
Develop first-principles, gray-box or black-box models of home energy products including HVAC components and batteries;
Develop state estimators to accurately track the state of the home energy ecosystem in real-time
Design and refine algorithms for home energy management, ensuring comfort, energy efficiency and reliability objectives are met;
Develop/update simulation environments to test and compare control designs;
Work in cross-functional teams, including HVAC engineers, embedded software engineers, data engineers and backend developers to integrate modeling and control algorithms into the Quatt product and software ecosystem.
💡 What you'll need?
Bachelor’s degree in Software, Control, Systems Engineering, or a related field;
3-5 years of work experience in systems control, energy management, or a related field
Demonstrated expertise in developing models for control;
Proficiency in C or C++ or Rust. Python experience is a nice-to-have;
Good understanding of control theory principles applicable to home energy management, including proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control and model predictive control;
You communicate clearly and build strong working relationships with stakeholders across different teams and levels.
You are full of energy, eager, and capable of learning and growing.
Experience in the field of Energy systems is a plus
Note: A (technical) assessment can be part of the hiring process.
You do not require visa sponsorship to live and work in the Netherlands.

About Quatt
Industry: Renewable Energy Semiconductor Manufacturing
Company size: 51-200 employees
Quatt is a Dutch company on a mission to accelerate the transition to sustainable home energy for everyone. We believe every household should have access to affordable energy solutions that provide greater comfort and deeper insight into energy consumption. To achieve this, we develop, produce, and install smart energy products, such as heat pumps and home batteries. While each product is powerful on its own, they work even better together. This forms the Quatt ecosystem: a complete, integrated solution for sustainable home energy. We continuously refine our solutions through smart software, data analysis, and user feedback to make sustainable heating easier and more efficient. In doing so, we’re not just building smart home energy solutions, but ultimately a better future.
